Did any of the Motion Camaros come through with flat hoods?

DarrenX33 06-18-2009 04:24 PM

Re: Is this a real Motion car?

It would have been up to the customer. I remember an article with a Motion 75 or 76 Camaro where the customer opted for the 569 lo-rise intake to run the stock hood.

Did Joel ever build or do a conversion on an a/c car? I have never seen one. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Bruce,

Thanks! You are exactly right! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif I forgot about that one. The older I get, it seems like I forget much more than I used to remember! LOL!!

I guess to narrow down the question, does anyone know of any 2nd Gen Camaros that had a/c that were built or converted by Joel? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

The classic copper/ white stripe 1973 that Dave B. had was an a/c small block car.

Re: Is this a real Motion car?

It has the "L" as the 5th digit in the VIN which would be a Z28 so the car sure looks like it would be a good starting point for a Motion car. If the block has any markings on it they could be the real help for identifying it.

it kills me how many people on different websites are all distraught over the flat hood. it was up to the customer. if they wanted it so be it. they didnt even have to have the stripes if they chose not to. i figured the guys that knew their stuff on here would be talking about this one. its crazy how many people on other sites think they know everything about MOTION just because they've seen a few different pics. i love this site!!!! keep up the great work and i appreciate all the knowledgable information on MOTION Supercars. Thanks Again!!

I saw that it had the non a/c controls and dash, but I have seen many that had the dash changed out. The reason that I asked the question was because the seller listed that the car had air conditioning under the options that the car had in the listing. Maybe he just listed it wrong. Wish he had more/better pics. Mayhe doesn't for a reason. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

If it were real, and completely restored, what would it be worth?

SuperNovaSS 06-19-2009 08:41 PM

Re: Is this a real Motion car?

Kind of a loaded question. It really depends how the car was equipped.

I called the seller and he is working on getting more documentation. 350 with 4 speed, no options he could think of.

probably worth alot if restored correct. once again it depends who is interested as to what they are willing to pay. they were and still are awesome supercars

Re: Is this a real Motion car?

that is one thing that pisses me off. flippers!!!!! if they want to buy the car then do it. dont get into a ballbagger match about how another flipper was smarter than you and faster because he bought it and sold it before the tears on his cheeks were dried up after crying that he didnt get it. they waste valuable forum space. that group of guys remind me of the black widows from "any which way but loose" and "the little rascals" somebodys always bawling about the other guy and fighting about whos friends with who. he who strikes first gets the car the rest are always left crying about how they should have bought it and how it was stolen out from under them. Re: Is this a real Motion car?

Check out my post over on the Motion section.I have some questions about this car,and one of them is even about the VIN.

BTW,Motion knockoffs were rampant in this part of the state back in the day.Just last Thursday I went to look at a Basket case 72 Camaro in the next town away from this one.It had genuine Motion flares,an L88 hood scoop bonded to the steel hood, and monster aluminum slot wheels on it.It was also last registered in 1978.The seller in no way implied it was a Motion car,but it was an original manual steering/brake 4 sped 307 car.For 700 bucks it was a sweeter deal then this car no doubt.

Someone went over and looked at the car and took pics.

Same pics in the two different threads/sites :

Re: Is this a real Motion car?

Seems to be the real deal here. I received an email from the seller to a question I had. He has located two of the original owners names. By looking at the pictures and details from the second thread posted above, it does appear that a real '72 Motion Camaro phase 3 has been found, rough yes, but what a find.

With an hour and fifteen minutes left it has jumped up to $8,200 bucks. I think it will go over 10k IMO.

Once restored any idea what the value would be?

Re: Is this a real Motion car?

I imagine there is not much talking about it because the price is going to jump in the next 10 minutes. If two guys have a feeling its real I see $25-30K.
