Re: 1969 Ram Air III 4-Speed Firebird
Nice car! Nice ad. Is Goldenrod the same as Daytona Yellow?

Sam:
I'm glad you liked the ad. Sometimes I feel like nobody looks at them and it takes me a few days to do. In answer to your question, Goldenrod is the same color as Daytona. Ed https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

You did a great job on the add! Cool car.

Re: 1969 Ram Air III 4-Speed Firebird
that is an awesome car, it will make someone very happy. I LOVE maintained cars, rather have one any day over a "restored" car, the originals are just SO REAL! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
I am not "up" on Pontiacs that much but I always thought that if it was a "Ram Air" it had all that stuff under the hood to channel the outside air through the (now opened up nostrils). I know they had two different hood scoops (or nostrils) the closed ones for the "regular" cars and the opened ones for the "Ram Air " cars, or so I thought ... Can someone enlighten me in the ways of Pontiac? |
Re: 1969 Ram Air III 4-Speed Firebird
Jim:
It's my understanding that the Ram Air pans and hood were not available on Firebirds until approximately March of 1969 (which would coincide with the introduction of the T/A). This Firebird was built at Lordstown in November of 1968. It is one of those well-maintained (loved) cars. It runs and drives beautifully and the trans shifts like new. Thanks for the interest, Ed |
Re: 1969 Ram Air III 4-Speed Firebird
I don't know about the '69s, but our '68, which was an early calendar year Ram Air I car, had the breather pan, hood seal pan and open hood scoops. It was about six months old when I bought the car in May 1968, so I can't be sure of too much. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2321...01686729AVAuDB

Re: 1969 Ram Air III 4-Speed Firebird
Keith,
Is that a Camaro spoiler on the Firebird? Was it an option on FireChickens? Jason |
Re: 1969 Ram Air III 4-Speed Firebird
Great ad Ed. Great car too. Makes me wonder if I want a Pontiac too?
|
Re: 1969 Ram Air III 4-Speed Firebird
Yes, it was a Camaro spoiler. Not an option on the Firebird that I am aware of.

The later cars (around 12/68) used "FB 400 HO" for the description. In either case, the 611 "R/A HD air inlet" option had to be ordered to get the RA pans. Again, in either case, they came with all the goodies, long branch exhaust manifolds, RA carb, etc. Interestingly, the GTO when ordered with the 348 option automatically included the RA pans...go figure. Good luck with the sale, Oh, and...https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...-I-Have-It.gif Mike |

Re: 1969 Ram Air III 4-Speed Firebird
I like this car and if it came down to owning this or a similar 396-325 HP Camaro, I'd pick this 'Bird first any day of the week!

Re: 1969 Ram Air III 4-Speed Firebird
It really looks right in this "DY" paint!
|
Re: 1969 Ram Air III 4-Speed Firebird
Sam:
I think the redlines make the paint really pop. I always liked that look on 69 Corvettes, that's why I put them on the Firebird. Mark: I think this Firebird would spank a 325 HP car. JMO, Ed |
