This is a picture of the car in Venice Florida, June of 69. Orig firestones on the car with a day 2 exhaust system. The original owner kept the car until 1977. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/406...ceFlorida2.jpg

Re: Motor Mount Recall Notification
Was there ever a recall for '69 Chevelle big block cars concerning motor mounts. If there was one, I never got it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Re: Motor Mount Recall Notification
no Chevelle or Corvette per the letter, they must have gotten them right ... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
"This notification applied to 1969 model passenger cars equipped with a V-8 engine, except Chevelle and Corvette models. Records available to us indicate you are the owner of such a car." Let's go back to those records and expose all the fake cars that exist today ... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif those "day 2" exhaust tips line up perfectly with the optional bumper guards ... and I imagine the pipes under the tank caused more than one episode of vapor lock ... you have a built in gas tank warmer ... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif cool big block convertible, unless the black panel was also a "day 2" mod to make the car appear to be a big block ... |

[/ QUOTE ] Yep a real BB, and a L78 to boot https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif. Still has orig sheetmetal and drivetrain. I did notice the exhaust pipe positions were exactly the same. Not sure the look the owner was after, such as Euro or mustang/shelby. From Jack Maxton Chevy Columbus, OH. |
Re: Motor Mount Recall Notification
Steve - neat historical documentation. Appreciate you posting it. Looks like you have a gem of a car there. Can you tell us more about it. Maybe a photo or two?!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Motor Mount Recall Notification
First I want to note that the previous owner Eric Nurge is responsible for the restoration and preservation of the car. I first met Eric at a Bast Chevrolet Camaro show in 1994 and we struck up a friendship. I have full ownership history and factory documentation from day one. Eric purchased it in 1990 from his cousing who purchased it in 1982. At some point I will provide Bruce with a complete write up on the car. This is another well equipped L78 convert, and the only option added from how it left the factory is the addition of spoilers. Yes no gauges (orig owner added his own), but a rear defogger and a host of others...go figure

Yes no gauges (orig owner added his own), but a rear defogger and a host of others...go figure [/ QUOTE ] I bought an L78 69 Camaro convertible from the original owner back in 75. It was a STRIPPER, so much so the salesman at the dealer felt sorry(?) for him and "added" mats, a console and one other option. The original owner/buyer that ordered it said he only wanted the most powerful convert he could buy for the least amount of money ... but it too had a rear defogger when it was delivered. He said he was not going to pay for any of the extras as he had ordered it with NONE and he stood his ground. The dealer "gave" him the options. When I say NO options that means it was the most basic L78 convert: NO power steering NO power top NO radio NO tinted/EZEye windows NO spoilers NO positraction dog dish hub caps a THREE speed manual trans His logic was that it had all that power he wouldn't need extra gears ... odd that two L78 converts would have the unusual rear window defog anyone know of where the one I used to own is? Last seen on Woodward Avenue near Long Lake Road, the person we sold it to was a parking valet at one of the foo-foo restaurants in Bloomfield Hills and we sold it back in 75 or 76 ... white, white top, white standard interior, white wheels with dog dish caps |
Re: Motor Mount Recall Notification
Jim,
I've never seen an all-white 69 convertible. And you almost never see a 3-speed L78! |
Re: Motor Mount Recall Notification
My old Burgundy L78 convert also had rear defog.

Re: Motor Mount Recall Notification
I remember getting that letter too. I had a 69 Caprice that had bad mounts. I took it in for the recall and I couldn't believe they didn't replace them but just added cables to the bad mounts to keep the engine from lifting. I got the car home and replaced the mounts and I think I still have those cables somewhere.

Re: Motor Mount Recall Notification
Doubt anyone ordered it, but there's nothing that I recall seeing that says you couldn't order a COPO with a 3 speed manual.....

Did the triple white L78 convert have a red or a black D90?

I know what the documentation states.. it also states that black with black roof and black interior got white stripe... and it has been observed as RED...
Triple white would look great with RED as well, just wondering if an actual delivered car had red or black? |
