Dominics IHRA license passes
 

we took Dominic to make his IHRA license passes yesterday at Byron Dragway.i let him go all out this weekend and never touched the car except to add alcohol. he had to make 2 half track passes and 4 full 1/8th mile runs. as the day went on the car kept getting quicker.

run 1....10.96 @ 57.15 mph
run 2....10.92 @ 51.31 mph..both shutting off
run 3....10.79 57.89 mph
run 4....10.688 @ 58.33 mph
run 5....10.682 @ 58.97 mph
run 6....10.60 @ 58.88 mph

we tried doing a burnout in the water but really made no difference so we stopped doing them. now we'll play with gearing before the points opener on may 2nd.....Coles car is in the paint stages at some place called "Deuce Heaven".....we'll have them both making runs side by side at the reunion.....should be a cool experience for all of us.......here are a couple videos............

anyway, the motors are based on a 5 hp briggs and stratton. ours is an aftermarket motor that makes 18 hp. they really are neat little pieces.........

Now that he's licensed, do you plan on running with a program this year?
Do they ever run at Union Grove? I know I've seen the Juniors there before.

rick, yeah the grove has a jr program but Byron is only 30 minutes from us so were going to run the points there and when Byron isnt having a points race we'll probably go to the Grove. he already got his NHRA license last june but Byron is IHRA, thats why he needed to make more runs. more seat time the better !! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

SWEETNESS! We caught some Jr. Dragster action @ Super Chevy this weekend...those older kids were FLYING! My boys were going bonkers watching them go down the track!!

rob, tell the boys there will be 2 yenko jrs at the reunion this year.....dominics car and coles new yenko deuce themed car !!!! them bigger kids really fly.....7.90 @ 85 mph !!!

and as far as reaction times........he's a work in progress....needs more play time on the port-a-tree Santa gave him !! but not too bad though....best light was .103 and worst light was .219....the car doesnt react as fast as i thought it would. he may have to leave when he sees the bottom bulb flash. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

I bet the rollout is tiny on one of those things...did u try having him deep stage? Or maybe super shallow and have him leave a bulb early?
