Supercar Saturdays at "The Glen", Glenview, Ill
This is a new event open to ALL cars in the Northern Chicago suburbs, located at "The Glen" shopping area now located at the former Glenview NAS. Opening day is May 2nd. It is open to ALL car enthusiasts and runs in the mornings from 9-11am, just enough time to grab a cup of joe, and chat with the brethren before going ahead with your day. The event will run on the first Saturday of every month through October 3rd, with the rain day the following Saturday. No charge, but if you register, you can get a primo parking spot and more up to the minute info. Once again, open to all cars, GM, Fords, Mopars, Vintage, Exotic, Rat's, you name it!! Holy Cr*p, you made the drive back across the 'cheddar curtain' and posted before I even got home...You da' man! Then again, I did take a 'detour' to the countryside and shook the cobwebs off of Ol' Blue. You're right about "Odd Balls"...we were like Huey, Dewey and Louie on one side of the street and the exotics on the other. A very nice location and hopefully we can drum up some more vintage muscle for the next event.

The event was first conceptualized only 3 weeks before it took place, and as any of you who have run an event of any kind know, there just aren't enough hours in the day so to speak. We had a lot of things to take care of from developing the website and establishing a team to marketing the event and coordinating with the venue. Since we were pressed for time, the only advertising we were able to get done was internet forums / message boards which posed a few problems: <ul type="square">[*]There aren't very many classic / vintage / muscle car boards (especially when compared to contemporary cars [*]The ones that do exist are hard to find as Google mainly turns up the modern, plastic muscle cars [*]We didn't have established relationships on those boards and in most cases when some new guy who isn't established within the community shows up advertising an event, things don't go smoothly[/list] I personally sent out email invitations to a hand full of organizations to try and bring a broader selection of cars because to be honest with you, all the newer stuff starts to look the same after a while. As I said to Chuck over lunch (which he was kind enough to buy me, thanks again Chuck) my personal goal for the June 6th event is to get more participation from the collector crowd to compliment the already stellar participation we have from the contemporary guys. I need your help! I don't want to be "that guy" showing up at car shows and advertising a separate event, but I desperately want to increase the assortment of cars and think that the older stuff you don't see every day is far more interesting...so, how can I do it? For those considering going next month.....Let me say that the location is one of the "Best" venues for a show that I have been to.....the restaurants and Coffee shops are pretty neat.....When the word gets out, It will be a favorite.....the morning "Coffee" and Cars theme is pretty cool.....I'll be on the Power Tour next month, but I'll be back in July........To the Organizers......."Good Job" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Ok gang, I went and it was quite busy. A few more muscle cars showed, a few Camaro's, and Chevelle's. They ran out of spots! It was great to see a good turnout...but we need more muscle. If you can make it next month, be there!! It's a great venue.
