Re: 1969 Yenko Camaro Lemans Blue Black Stripes

This Francis Chevrolet sold 1969 Yenko Camaro is being offered for sale for the very first time, since it was restored. It is one of approx 198 ever produced by Yenko Sports Cars, Inc.

It has the distinction of being one of the 28 automatic M40s built.

This is one of the very few Yenko Camaros to retain its original engine.

It has been driven sparingly and properly maintained by a very fussy owner, ever since the restoration was completed.

Mostly Original or NOS parts were used throughout the restoration.

The show quality paint Job was finished in Lacquer.

Everything operates as it should. This Yenko is extremely well sorted.

We have pre-restoration as found photos as well as other pertinent documentation.

Call 630-377-1222 for more detailed info.

This is currently the only place this Yenko is offered for sale.

Price is $275,000.00 obo

I will assume the new owner knows that part of the purchase is a mandatory showing at the Nickey Chicago Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, November 21-22!

To clarify, I didn't buy this Yenko I was just congratulating Stefano. Glad to see good guys are still able to sell some cars very quickly in this market. Buyer is a good guy too. Its all good all the way around, except for the economy and the fact that we are paying for the bonus's of wall street executives who helped the economy get in this mess.

Re: 1969 Yenko Camaro Lemans Blue Black Stripes

Based on our further and intensive inspection, and due to the extensive sheet metal repairs performed on this Yenko Camaro, our opinion is that it should be considered to have been rebodied.

The complete and original cowl section containing the original confidential VINs appears to have been welded at the factory spot weld points on the restored car. We believe the trim tag, the VIN tag, the original engine and many other Yenko/COPO components are original to this Yenko.

This stunning and significant Yenko has won numerous show awards including:

984 points at the 27th annual Diamond Certification at the US Camaro Club

Top Gun for best Restored Chevrolet at the Chevy Vette Fest Nationals

Numerous Gold Spinner Awards, Chevy Vette Fest Nationals

Placed Third at the Milwaukee Masterpiece Concourse

This information has been provided to the best of our knowledge. Please email [email protected] with any additional questions.

It will be at the Mecum Auction in Indy.

Re: 1969 Yenko Camaro Lemans Blue Black Stripes

im kinda confused
so this car is a rebody?it seems everyone had very high praises for it in previous posts.down right scary in my mind
mr stefano,i give you much credit for inspecting the car and posting this.
i thought it had sold.did buyer or seller find this info out?will the rebody?be disclosed at auction?im sure the owner must be sick to his stomach at this point.still a very neat and nice car but not worth in my opinion anywhere near the 275 it commanded per the first description.good luck to the seller.its such a shame they didnt try to salvage original body. i guess without knowing the true history its hard saying what went wrong.where the pics you mentioned of the car when it was original deemed fake also?
id love top own a original yenko but im getting more gun shy as these things come up.i couldnt afford one rite now anyhow im just trying to educate myself.
thank you yenko.net for putting all this info out

Stefano 05-04-2009 04:43 AM

Re: 1969 Yenko Camaro Lemans Blue Black Stripes

We were asked by the buyer, as a condition of the deal to confirm that this Yenko was not a rebody. The inspection, much to our surprise, as well as that of the current owner proved otherwise.

This is a case wherein, the restoring Body Shop seems to have chosen a path of least resistance for their restoration process.

The original Camaro did not need to be rebodied, in order for it to be restored.

We are representing this Yenko at Auction.

Full and proper disclosure has been provided to the Auction and will be included with the description of the Yenko.

Was this handled right or what!

Who else would have addressed this situation in this professional manner. I cannot say enough about Stefano and the whole Nickey/Chicago organization.

This is exactly what this web site/networking is all about.

Now you tell me, who would you feel comfortable buying a car from now. I say it's Nickey Chicago!

Hats off to you Stefano.

No, once it was determined that there was an issue during the inspection process the buyer was obviously no longer was interested.

I find it disturbing the owner who had the car restored had no knowledge that "the Body Shop seems to have chosen a path of least resistance for their restoration process"restoration shop "

Stefano I applaud you for being upfront about disclosing this information. The owner placed you in a very difficult position.

Re: 1969 Yenko Camaro Lemans Blue Black Stripes

If the owner didnt know the Restoration Shop took a path of least resistance Id be going NUTS right about now.. What a costly mistake and a complete shame if the original car was salvagable.

Stefano 05-04-2009 07:05 PM

Re: 1969 Yenko Camaro Lemans Blue Black Stripes

It is my opinion based on all the info provided to me by the Current owner, as well as all the supporting docs and pictures, to include parts of the original sheet metal, which he thought had been replaced, that he did not know what had taken place.

Example; I don't think he would have brought the original tail panel to show the original Lemans Blue paint, under the Yellow, Yenko Emblem holes, as well as Francis emblem holes, if he been aware that the tail panel had actualy never been replaced.

He and I had the "Rebody" conversation prior to our accepting the Yenko on consignment. As a condition of the sale, he was asked to sign an affidavit, that the car was not a rebody and he had no issues complying.

He also had the opportunity to decline our request to take the car apart for our inspection!

He was also given the opportunity to cancel our consignment agreement, take his car back and have someone else market the car for him. He agreed that this info should be shared with the Super Car community as well as any potential buyers.

He also had asked for a "right of first refusal" to buy the car back, as he is in a must sell situation with this Yenko.

We have always, to the best of our ability and or knowledge properly disclosed rebody situations.

Please remember that all three of the original VINs, the original trim tag and the original engine etc. are with this Yenko.

The ad in the beginning of this thread stated that there were as-found, pre-restoration photos available. Was the car really that rusty?

I've read all the posts here, and could someone please answer the following three questions for me:

1.) Did this car receive 100% new sheet metal, everywhere on its body due to unrestorable rust problems?

2.) If it has been rebodied, is the original shell available?

3.) Has this car received some new sheet metal but not all??

Thanks!

In this M-40/T400 YENKO resto, is that HURST Shifter and console the current design (not original) and are they still available, from what vendors ???????????

How many known COPO M-40's were column shifted? Not converted to HURST Floor Shift.

this sounds like a clear cut case of diminished value, I hope the owner that paid for the "restoration" takes those clowns to court . . . https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif

Do you honestly believe the resto shop supplied a FREE clean Camaro body? They must have only billed for the needed body work but decided to remove the cowl and supply another body which also needed sheetmetal work for LESS than the cost of the needed bodywork on the original body?
Hey, I have some swampland I'd like to sell!
