Super Chevy Show
I notice that there are several super chevy shows coming up. My interest is in the car show portion of the event. Reading their info on the car show on the site I am having a hard time understanding if this is something I would be interested in.
I enjoy showing at a judged meet where I can learn more about my cars and earn a meaningful award if the car warrants it. I prefer to show at an event where there is an objective standard and your car is judged against that standard. I was interested if anyone has shown at Super Chevy and what their experience was. What kind of award can one earn? Thanks |
Re: Super Chevy Show
im sure things have changed since 86/87/88 when i showed my pro street 57. my car made the pages of their magazine but never won any kind of award though. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Re: Super Chevy Show
Dave,
It has been a few years, but I did the Super Chevy shows for about 5 or 6 years. Good competitive cars and what seemed like competent judging (early on). In my last year or so, they cut back on number of judges to where one judge might be responsible for maybe 3 classes, each of which might have 40 to 50 cars. In the early years, they spent an adequate amount of time to evaluate each car...later they might spend 2 minutes on a car. If you are going, you need to be aware of their rules as your car is placed in one of three catagories: Stock, Street or Modified. Here is the link to their rules page. Car Show Information/Rules If you have additional questions, drop me a PM. and I can go into more detail if needed. Rich |
Re: Super Chevy Show
Based on the lineup of cars in your profile I wouldn't put much weight on judging from a Super Chevy event.

Re: Super Chevy Show
Super Chevy has been known as "STUPID CHEVY" as far as I'm concerned.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif I won a plaque there with my Nova back in 2001 but got hassled on little things they thought were not original to the car which bumped me into a street class from stock... I don't know if I would waste your time going to this event with your car especially if it is bone stock.. Seems they like modified stuff there more...

Re: Super Chevy Show
I entered my stock Chevelle from 1997-2001 at their Indy & Joliet shows and won my class every time. They soon bumped me to Gold class and although I won there too,I didn't really enjoy it as much as prior.
The competition in Gold was pretty cut throat, and I was stunned to see the lengths some would go as well as the mind set of a few participants next to me. I accepted the class winner jackets and crystal trophys, but haven't returned since. It just seemed to be less about the people all around in general.. |
Re: Super Chevy Show
I've attended every Super Chevy at Maple Grove since the early eighties - It's still a good time - but the judging and the quality of the shows have been on a steady decline over the last 10 years. I have not even brought a car in the last 5 years!

Re: Super Chevy Show
I drove my Chevelle up to Maple Grove SCS every year from 1985-1992, rain or shine. Drove it out to Indy SCS in 1991! I was amazed how large that SCS was!
The entry fee became expensive (for the day) so I stopped going. Haven't been since 1992. From what I hear, I'm not missing much. |

Re: Super Chevy Show
I took my 1968 Z/28 Crossram Convertible to a Super Chevy Show....
You can imagine how they were "Scratching their heads" Only Won Camaro's Performers Magazine Choice. The SCS didnt know what to think.....2nd place in modified class..... Everybody in the camaro line up was completely amazed it was placed into modified......But i see there point...It is right? http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c7...n/100_4841.jpg |

If you are thinking of going to the SCS & have not been to Palm Beach International Raceway yet; it may be worth the ride.
The track is beautiful & the SCS has not been there for about 8 years so the turnout should be great. Come on down & have some fun. I will be there with the Murray's Speed & Custom trailer. Drop by & say hi. http://888murrays.com/Super_Chevy_feelthepower.jpg http://www.murrayauto.com/gallery/al...x768.sized.jpg http://www.murrayauto.com/gallery/al...x768.sized.jpg |
Re: Super Chevy Show
I don't care about the awards, but I do enjoy the Super Chevy shows. I like being able to show my car, check out many beautiful cars, and watch some good drag racing. I believe that the competition is very tough in the car show and I do think it's a notable achievement to win something there.
