Winter Granny Project..
1 Attachment(s)
I decided to do some cosmetic work to the 69 granny Nova I bought 2 years ago. This is one solid car!!! It had a lot of little dings and scratches that needed attention so I brought it to one of my clients for a "freshening up". They have an "old school" guy there who has done a lot of resto work and he is really enjoying working on this 40 year old survivor. He has gone over the whole car and fixed all the little stuff...he only found one minor rust spot the size of quarter on the lower dogleg of the pass. side front fender. This car was well cared for and certainly wasn't left out in the weather..it should look real nice when we are done. Here are some pics I took today at the shop...we spent sometime going over the car and planning the next step.

I pulled out the back seat and found 2 build sheets...one was the correct one for the car, the other was dated the same day with the same interior...but different body number and paint color. Who said the factory never made a mistake https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif
first one in seat bottom...incorrect https://www.yenko.net/attachments/384180-tn_IMG_0325.jpg |

The interior is so nice in this car...plain jane 731 with a "mint" rubber mat..that may come out for re-sale and get a repro carpet...

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, I decided that would make the most sense...with so many little areas to work on it doesn't pay not to. I would appreciate any info on paint formula for 69 Olympic Gold...we put the camera on it to get some ideas...but I'm sure some the experts here have some "real info". |

We took the front end apart....bumper, grill, etc. The bumper filler was cracked in a couple places. I'm going to clean and detail front rear bumpers, hardware, etc. and clean and polish all the trim and emblems...everything is in really nice shape...should look when we are done. The hood had 8 or 9 small dings that looked like someone was hitting it with a ball peen hammer, very strange..

Original documents...POP, owners manual, glove box bag, bill of sale and build sheet...
build sheet reads: seq:375 04/16 11427 WRN 370840 731 65 B B80 B84 B90 CRD ZJ3 ZJ5 car has the 250cid 155hp L6, powerglide, full wheel covers, white wall tires,HD battery, am radio, special interior group, exterior decor package, black vinyl top, HD undercoat...sold new at Tremont Chevy in the Bronx. This car is every thing Jim Ferron said it was...a solid survivor with no rust issues. Good example of a quality transaction with another SYC member https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
This is what it looked like when I got it form Jim. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/384218-69nova.jpg |
Re: Winter Granny Project..
Post the info on the other broadcast sheet. You never know, the car may be around.

Re: Winter Granny Project..
It wasn't much...just a plain jane L78, bench seat 4 spd https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
ok, not really...seq:366 04/16/69 11427 WRN 3624x3 (rust mark on the 5th digit) 731 40 40 nothing entered in any of the other boxes...strange https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif I can see how they made the mistake...same black plain jane interior. So, somewhere another Nova is running around with the bottom half of a back seat meant for this car.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Update on the Granny Project:
Man is thing solid..!!! Took out the front seat and rubber floor mats tonite....only one word "MINT". My guy Tim has removed the rear bumper, tail lights and the b/s moldings. Only have the front fender Nova emblems to go and few other little items...he said it is a pleasure to work on a car where you don't need a 1/2" drive air ratchet to take it apart. The rear bumper bolts came off with a 1/4" air ratchet https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif seat belt bolts were effortless https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif if anyone needs any photos of original stuff for resto let me know...this car is the perfect benchmark for that info.
