Re: 1979 yenko nova?
Hope you meant 1969 Nova. Here's a good place to start. (And BTW, there were more than 3 built.)

no i meant 1979. i'm going to take a look at it this weekend. supposable it's for real. i know they built some of those 81 z28's, but i haven't been able to find any info on this 79 nova. the storhy i was told is all 3 were built for racing, one is in a museum, one is unaccounted for and the other is the one i'm going to look at.

Re: 1979 yenko nova?
Not positive of the year, but Chevrolet Division was offering a Police Package Nova and wanted it promoted. Don Yenko and Jerry Thompson put together a Nova for an IMSA class and ran the car. I have a picture of it when it was dark red and believe it was later painted Black & White. They equipped it with a flashing light and siren. The idea was to have local police be part of the pit crew at the various tracks throughout the country for additional publicity. It would be interesting to ask Jerry Thompson about that car.

Looks like it could be about '79. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/attachments/370...rabilia002.jpg |

Re: 1979 yenko nova?
Don Yenko ran a Nova in IMSA’s Kelly American Challenge Series that started in 1977. He finished 4th that year.
Around 79-80 Yenko was working on a Chevy Citation race car project. Bill Grumpy Jenkins built the engines. Maybe Bill B remembers that project? |
Re: 1979 yenko nova?
John Brown send me your e-mail address and I will try to get you the picture of the Yenko Duece that is not on the list so you can post them. I will also try to get you the Day 2 pictures of the Silver Conner Duece. I tried and could not get them to work and I am way to busy these days with my new job to try to figure it out. On the 79 Yenko Nova...the one in Joe's pictures is either a 76 or 77 because of the Nova emblem in the grille. All 79's had square headlights and a different grille, if any one cares about these big bumper smog POS's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Another photo of the same car, I believe that's Dick Thompson on the driver's side... Don Yenko in the foreground.
