Opinion: What wheels look best on a nova?
 

Trying to decide what wheels look best on an L78 Nova? Cragers, Torque thrusts? Not big on the small hub cap look.

I'm a dog dish fan myself,but sense you don't like that look i would go with the Torque thrusts.

Tire size also plays a role in this choice, especially if you are running some big ones on the back. The original style TTO's don't have a lot of back spacing so tire size can be a problem. The newer wheels have almost unliited choices for you....no one has mentioned rallyes....they can look good too. Post some pics of the car and what tires you are going to use (black wall, raised white letters, redlines, etc.)

It is just like your fathom blue car. Has 15" redlines with the small caps.

Sean, E-70 x 14 was the stock tire size for the SS Nova...15" looks better...more stance. What size tire are you running now..??? I think something like an F-70 x 15 on the front and G or H on the back would look good. We have that setup on our 70 Black L78 Auto.

What width 15x6-15x7-15x8??? The offset seems pretty dang tight.

We have 15 x 6 on the front and 15 x 7 on the rear...the TTO's will limit your tire size due to their backspacing. You could use the tires you have without a problem...probably 235's on the rear and 215's on the front would work with the Torque Thrusts...maybe a little more...those are 67 Chevelle/Chevy 2 dog caps on our 70...something different from the million other cars with COPO caps https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

I've got 15x6 and 15x7 rims on it. I think I've got like a 195 or 205 tire on the front, and I know I've got 255s on the rear. The drivers side cleared fine. I had to roll the quarter panel lip slightly on the passenger side because when I went around sharp curves, the tire would rub. It seems like I remember reading about several guys having the same issue that I did with tire clearance, that the driver's side had more clearance than the passenger side. As posted above, you would be safer with a 235 tire.

Torque thrusts are nice but every new mustang has a look alike pair on them, Cragers are more old school.

I have 16x7 and 16x8 polished TT II's on mine, but E/T Mags or the TTO's look great with the Fathom Blue! Just my opinion.

Here is an old Torque Thrust that I had on the rear of my 72 Nova. Someone was throwing a pair of them away and I grabbed them. They don't have any name on the back. I use them to roll stuff around as one has a bad place around the center cap area. 15X7's I think.

Here are the Fenton slots that are going on the 72. This car might get torn down and completed sometime before I die.... I am still gathering parts for it and that never seems to end....

Allen, that made up my mind for my car. It is still at the paint shop but is painted (all silver) and I was wanting to change the rally wheels. I love the look of your car/wheels and didn't even think about going without the trim rings. I also wanted to do a pin stripe but my painter talked me out of it. Now that I see yours, I may do the stripes.

Cool! If you'd like more pictures of my Nova for reference, PM me with your email and I'll send some.

I'm really happy with how my Nova turned out. The black pin stripes on the body line really set it off, and goes well with the black insets on the rims.

Regarding the option of trim rings on the wheels, Ken said he couldn't bring himself to install them because it just looked so right without them. Plus, once installed, you're committed to keeping them because they'll scratch the paint on the rims. I promised to leave it alone for a bit and see how I liked it, and he was right.... it does look tough in my biased opinion. That's how mine will stay.

That car is killin me Bart! Got to go get it back! I also like Cragars on a nova. Keystones were always on Warren and Registers Stock/Superstock camaros. chevelles and novas in the old days.
