------Beyond the oil filter this Nova has so many restoration related problems that one almost doesnt know where to begin. Most of the stuff just looks like its related to a "just get the resto out the door and sold" mentality.
------Above any of this, What does everyone here think of the shade of "Garnet Red"??? I had a 69 Garnet Red Camaro new and remember it as being much darker. Not exactly maroon but nowhere near bright red........Bill S

Sorry to cause a fuss gents, like I said in my original post, moving away from the numbers, a red/red/black Nova with a bbc is tough to beat. I am not a knowledge source when it comes to Novas.

Here's my Garnet Red 69 next to my nephew's original paint garnet red 69... quite a bit darker than this Nova. The garnet red paint seems to have a slight purple hue in certain light and turns to an indian red in other light.

As far as the shade Granet red ? I will tell you that about 4 years ago I restored a 66 Chevelle, Regal Red. PPG had replaced the original formula for RR with the "offset color of 68 Fordstang Candy apple red https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif. I was trying to mix it in PPG DBC. The ford offset was WAAAY to light.
I still had the original paint on the hood louvers and we shot that color with the electronic gun ( I forgot what that gizmo is called ?) and mixed from there. It came out dead nuts on.
The point is alot of these older colors may have been replace and a offset color is now in use and often not that close.
If your going into paint, you may want to investigate a little B4 you strip all the original.

However, I'd be happy to have it in my garage to drive to local cruises, etc. (after a little tweaking). I agree, the Red/Red with a Black hat is cool.

I think the gentleman overstated the "very correct" restoration description, but the car looks nice.
There are differences in opinion on what is a correct restoration, or what the owner fells is correct for him. IMHO some of the best/correct restorations as a car would have left the factory are SCW's. But you also see cars that have no overspray, or other factory imperfections that score very high in judging.CPX comes to mind. Many times it depends on the judges, and the venue.
Also Mike is dead on as to color tint. There are no current mixing formulas for the older laquer colors. They are new colorbc/cc crossovers. And as Mike said, you can get a prophet/electric scan done, but most of the time you still need to tint around to get it closer. And the paint will be a whole lot deeper than it ever was originally. Even some shops who still shoot laquer clear the laquer.
I think sometimes we get over critical about differences in end results when there seems to be no set absolute. Many times leading to anal retention,and gastric distress.

Am I confused??? The ad says all date-coded correct drivetrain...its a 12A car..Dec 68 I assume...therefore, the heads,and trans are dated after the car???and the heads a few months apart?? and the rear the same week as the car?? Is that all possible?
