Re: 70 396 camaro
Is that an M20 Saginaw?

Re: 70 396 camaro
I never saw a Van Nuys car that was stamped by the oil filter boss. I thought this was a 69 Norwood only practice that started in December of 68 because of the location of the alternator. Pretty car but I don't understand why people add Z28 stripes to SS cars. SS Camaros are very cool and don't need them. Just my $.02 Ed

Re: 70 396 camaro
Door panels are 72-73 Custom interior panels with what looks like the woodgrain inserts painted black.

Re: 70 396 camaro
That car has a lot of issues besides stripes and door panels. Suppose to be an RS as well but it's missing a lot of the RS only stuff such as door, fender and hood trim, concealed wiper system. Steering wheel should have an SS emblem, etc..
That is not the original shifter as the seller notes. Never saw a Saginaw in a BB 1970 Camaro before. Plus the rear swaybar setup is from a later second generation Camaro. Not correct for 1970. Not so sure about that buildsheet either. Rick H. |

Re: 70 396 camaro
As Rick and others have stated, this car has been "restored" with a hodge podge of misc incorrect pieces.
I recently inspected a restored (former survivor) Los Angeles 70 L-34 SS, that had born with engine stamped on bellhousing flange. |

Re: 70 396 camaro
COPO spoiler on a 70 SS 396? I'd like to see the build sheet.

John you looking for a BB 70? [/ QUOTE ] Hey, D. I am always keeping an eye on 70s, cause I like them. Truth is, I am considering selling my 70Z28 cause I have a couple cars further up the "depth chart" ( then I drive it, and enjoy it too much...........especially with the new edlebrock IAS shocks) See ya at Vettefest john https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif |
Re: 70 396 camaro
Van Nuys was inconsistent on the engine VIN stamp and I think after March 69 they would show up in both locations. The gear box stamps would also be put on top of the transmission on occasion as well
