new addition for tim g
tim
congrats to you on your 'new arrival'. |
Re: new addition for tim g
It's one of the coolest '70 Z's I've seen. RS, THM, and 4.10 gears......a white/black, all original low mileage beauty. Oh, and did I say it runs like a singed jack rabbit.

Re: new addition for tim g
Thanks, Guys. I just returned from working in San Antonio and saw this post. I appreciate all the kind words.
Picked it up on Sunday and the fuel line into the carb was leaking. A little turn of the wrench stripped the threads and made the little leak a big leak. I've driven this car before and it is a kick in the pants. 6,500 comes quick with the M40 and a 4.10 gear. Hard to imagine that this car lived such an apparent sheltered life, it's in great condition with an entirely original driveline. Any hints on where to look for a build sheet? The interior has really never been touched. I dropped the gas tank, but I guess that only works for Corvettes, right. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif Torque Thrusts and traction bars? Tubes? |
Re: new addition for tim g
Tim,
Great looking Z! If it is Norwood built I doubt you will find a build sheet in the car. If you are lucky you might find the build sheet on the list that Jody has and he will send it to you. 1970 Camaro Build Sheets Nils |
Re: new addition for tim g
a few years back i purchased the z in the pic's, at that time it had an original POP with it and a couple pic's of the original owner who purchased the car in florida as i remember. i purchased the car from wagners who had bought the car from a gentleman in colorado. i spent the first evening after i recieved the car crawling around verifying the important drive train numbers,it had the born with drive train at that time. i have a file on the car at my home in nevada but won't be there for another 12 months, if you are interested i can round up what info i have on the car at that time and get it mailed to you. i traded the car to happydays and didn't end up keeping it for very long, i remember thinking at the time i purchased the car that it was truly a very well balanced car... especially in 1970.

Re: new addition for tim g
Nils, thank you. I'll check the VIN as it is a Norwood car.
I had no idea that the build sheets for some Camaros existed. Tim |
Re: new addition for tim g
Tim,
From what I was told, Jody's father worked at Norwood for years and would take the build sheets home for Jody to use as scrap / coloring paper. Years ago Jody found a couple stacks of them in the basement. Good luck |
Re: new addition for tim g
Alan, amazing that you owned the car. It's good to hear that you thought it was a good car. I'd love any information you have, your correct on the history of who owned the car, it came from Happy Days to Austin in early 2005.

Re: new addition for tim g
do you still have the POP for the car https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
|
Re: new addition for tim g
Alan, it is a day 2 POP, it's for the second owner so it's not the original POP. It's a Norwood car with Z28 on the trim tag. I don't know if you had the original POP or the one for the second owner. He purchased it very early in it's life.

I love the split bumper Z's! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: new addition for tim g
i remember being amazed that the motor was stamped one day after it was cast... as i remember it. they must of really had the assembly line cookin' https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif i noticed that the pop seemed like it was a little bit different than the examples i had seen in books, but i really didn't know any thing different at the time. it took me a while to find the stamping on the trans being a rookie like i was... but sure enough there it was.

Re: new addition for tim g
Wonder if Jody's dad brought home any 69 build sheets???? Nice car you have Tim,never seen a white 70/Z before.Got to love those small spoilers.

Re: new addition for tim g
Tim,
Nice find!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Some Van Nuys '70 Camaro's had as many as 4 build sheet's hidden in them. Many, if not most, had at least 1. Norwood build sheet's are rare though. You can find all the info you want on 2nd Gen's over at the NastyZ28.com site if you're really curious. Have fun with it! [ QUOTE ] Nils, thank you.
