Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
Is Chev V-F doing anything to promote unrestored cars. I am not to familiar with the group. Any input would be appreciated. I have an unrestored 65 Corvette I have considered showing.
Thanks, Tim |

Yes, but I'll let Mr. Ashton provide the details.

Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
Although we don't have classes specific to unrestored cars, we do welcome them.
Nice, unmolested unrestored cars will do well in our Gold Spinner Concours classes. Judging criteria is based on how the car left the factory and points are deducted for deviations from stock. Condition of the car overall is taken into consideration. Another alternative is to come in as Non Comp/Display Only with no judging, as many of our Showcase participants do. Rough unrestored cars are considered on an individual basis. It doesn't necessarily have to be shiny to be welcome at the show. Unrestored originals are very well received. As many of you remember, The "Camouflaged Soldier" unrestored original 1969 L88 Corvette was on display in one of what I call the "Hot Spots", right up front at the main entrance. For more info on this particular car, go to www.nickeychicago.net So how about bringing your 65 Corvette for Display Only/Non Comp? We would love to see it! We take our Judging very seriously at Chevy Vettefest. We are investigating this aspect of the hobby and if we are able to establish an appropriate judging format, this could be something added to the show in the future. Thanks; BA |
Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
I am interested in showing the car. At this point, I may have a schedule conflict for this fall. The car is a 65 Corvette Coupe fuel injected with 53,000 miles. Red with black and white interior. This is an NCRS 5 star Bowtie car that has not really been shown in some time. I would like to get the car some current exposure. It is my understanding this may have been a recent Nickey car. If you have interest, I will see what I can do about scheduling.
Thanks, Tim |

Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
What connection to Nickey is your car supposed to have?
|
Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
to my understanding...they had it for sale a while ago.
That's all. Sorry if that sounded misleading. Tim |
Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
Tim,
Did you just purchase the car from the Bloomington Gold Auction this past Summer? |
Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
Sounds like the ex-Roy Sinor car? He also owned the Survivor blue 65 Fuelie coupe. Cool cars!
Bring it to VF, Tim. Colin |
Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
Yea. thats the car. I have been working on it quite a bit.
The car cleaned up reeaallly well. Fixed all of the mechanical issues.Runs great. The whole deal. The car is a real treat. I will see what I can do to get to VF. One of the neatest unrestored cars I have had. Tim |
Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
Tim,
That is a very cool Survivor Vette!! We did have it for sale. We also sold the other 1/2 of the Survivor Pair, of 1965 Fuelie Coupes, which came from Roy Sinor, to another member on this site. Maybe we can see the Pair back together again, someday? |
Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
Do you mind telling where the other one went? I looked at both in St. Charles. Had a hard time making up my mind which I would go after. The red and white is what pushed me over the edge. Now, I'm having a ball with it! Looks like I will be at Chev VF https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
I'll let the new owner Chime in, but it is kept in a warm and Sunny location for most of the Year.

Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
Tim, I am surprised to see your car on ebay. I hope that all is well, I was looking forward to seeing it at the VF. Good luck with the sale.

Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
All is well. I am working on another car at the moment which I did not anticipate so soon. Not a fire sale by any means. If does not move, I guess I just have to keep it! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gifI will be at VF although the car wont. The class was way over full. So....all I can do is look and https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
Thanks for you interest!!! Tim |

We do not want to compromise the integrity of our Judging and Awards, so we have had to turn away many very beautiful cars, as the classes are full. The quality of cars entered, especially the C1 and C2 Corvettes, Nova's, Camaro's and Chevelles is incredible. I know one thing for sure...I am glad that I am not a Judge. These guys are going to have their hands full, especially when it comes to the Diamond and Top Gun awards. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif BA |

Re: Chevy Vette Fest and unrestored cars
My plan from here is this. If the car does not sell, I will be @ Bloomington Gold to have the car judged for "Survivor" as well as take a poke at Certification to see how far it goes. Furthermore, I'll get my dead ass in gear and get it registered for VF next year. Today, I came across some pretty neat stuff for the car. Back in the mid 90's, a man named Dennis Clark (past NCRS Judging Chairman), put together a presentation on what a NCRS Bowtie should be. Recently, I have had communication with Mr. Clark and he was kind enough to forward the whole 35mm silde presentation he used at the 1995 NCRS National Convention. I received it today. Tonite, I am going to take a good look at the sildes and https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gifAccording to Mr. Clark, the car (mine) was the inspiration to create the NCRS Bowtie Award program. So, I'm pretty wound up right now. If I did not have a shot at another car, E-bay thing would not be going on. I have one other car I may sell to my Father instead of my fuelie to finance my next venture. Now.....you are up to date! See ya @ VF https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif
