You named the few but the one in Hawaii I didnt hear of !! Should have been at the Playboy Mansion a few years ago, I had the two only Pink Hemi Cudas there !! I have a guy who say's he owns a Pink Hemi Challenger but havent seen proof. That would be one of the Rarest Hemi Challenger besides the 71 Sunroof Hemi Challenger https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

A very sad thing indeed about Daniel, he was the Panther Pink Challenger expert. Hope you find out more on the Hemi Challenger, Daniel had a wanted ad for that car ongoing for the last 3 -4 years over on moparts.com. http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...s9-9-08002.jpghttp://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...s9-9-08005.jpg |

Wow! Seeing these pics makes me think twice about selling or trading mine. Maybe I could keep just one coupe.
Very sad about Daniel, I think he was only 47. |

I was able to get one of the last factory pack pints of this original light argent laquer 4 years ago, the center caps also used this paint http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...stdone2025.jpg

Because when it comes to Mopars, you can't combine options to arrive at a production figure. In total, 41 US-spec Challenger R/Ts were built in Panther Pink, plus an unspecified number of Canadian and export-spec cars. |
Re: PRETTY IN PINK
The Shaker hood is very rare on these cars, because when Chrysler crash tested this conbination of a Challenger with the Shaker hood, they found out that the hood had a nasty habit of coming through the windshield and killing the driver in a frontal crash. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif
Good reason to change the hood design, especially after it went into production. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif 'Cuda has a slightly different set-up, no worries there. |
Re: PRETTY IN PINK
Guys, Thanks for the compliments.
442w30, my known information came from the late Daniel Banker, he was really into the FM3 Challengers, I believe his numbers may have came from Galen Govier. For at least 10 years now 5 1970 FM3 SHAKER HOOD 440-6 Challengers are known to exist, three 4-spds and two auto's. I'm curoius as to where your total of 41 FM3 Challenger R/T's comes from? |

[/ QUOTE ] I know of Daniel, and it's a shame of his recent passing. I never really cared for "known to exist" stuff because not one person has all the knowledge. But the number "41" comes straight from Chrysler's records. Even Galen says 41! But - remember - that's only for US-spec R/T hardtops. It doesn't include other models like R/T SE or R/T ragtop, and it doesn't include cars outside the US border. There probably are another 20 out there, I imagine. My friend has one of those 41, but his has the pink stripe. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |
Re: PRETTY IN PINK
Thought you guys would like to see some "as found" pics. This owner had the car since 1972. As you know the original owner lives in Tucson where the car was purchased new-

Re: PRETTY IN PINK
Are the louvers factory installed? Was the car coded for a vinyl top or were the louvers added by the original owner later? I always thought that the vinyl top was a mandatory option when you ordered louvers because the metal edges of the louvers would tend to dig into the paint and the vinyl top would prevent that from happening?
(I'm not nitpicking - just curious - I love how the car looks without a vinyl top - it's breathtaking.) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif I remember trying unsuccessfully for years to buy an original pink/white 440-Six Pack 1970 Charger R/T-SE with factory sunroof back in the 1980s. It was in Saskatchewan but somebody else ended up getting it. I love that color. |
Re: PRETTY IN PINK
Steve
Yes the louvers are factory installed, the fender tag actually lists them twice. And tag also is stamped FM3 in both top and bottom. As does both production broadcast sheets. There is a rubber seal that goes around the area where paint contact is. Bruce |

I was planning on taking it over while I was in town but that weekend was calling for rain, so Mark and I drove the 72 Cheyenne over. Not much of a turn out that day. I'll be back down in January, so hope to take it then. Bruce |
