Maple Grove Dutch Classics

Any bets on the SS/AH record falling tomorrow at the Grove? I say Westcott goes in the 8.40 range at 160 in these conditions. There is a couple other cars that will be right behind him. Maybe high 8.30's???? The Hemi Shootout this weekend is a show that should not be missed. I don't care if you are or arn't a Mopar guy. Also Jerry MacNeish will have his new 1967 Z/28 running, I believe in D/S there also. A great weekend for drag Racing as long as it does not rain.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

You gotta be kiddin' me...it's gonna be *over* 1036mb tomorrow! That track is what, only 200', cold air, and then that crazy high barometer? Friggin' mineshaft air...wouldn't surprise me a bit if Charlie stepped clean over the .40s and dropped a mid-high .30 in there! Or ever better! He had just an *average* barometer @ No Problem...you going? If so, grab some pictures...

Re: Maple Grove Dutch Classics

Westcott & Rains, first Hemi pair up...Westcott goes 8.424 @ 156.84 while Rains goes 8.466 @ 155.13...quickest Hemi pair to date! Couple pairings later, Daniels runs an 8.45 @ 145.9 to Pancake's 8.494 @ 154. Crazy fast today folks...

Also, Armstrong's SS/A 'Vette went 8.723 @ 152.62

Re: Maple Grove Dutch Classics

Sr goes 8.49 @ 159 and Jr goes 8.40 @ 157

Re: Maple Grove Dutch Classics

Westcott junior 8.38@157 and some change, Sr. went [email protected]. Some of the Barton cars were also in the mid 40's at 155 or so. The air was better then racing at Half Moon Bay or Fremont in the winter! A lot of Stock Eliminator cars were running real well also. Jerry MacNeish ran a 10.64 in D/S. Not bad at all for the second time out with the car. If he can run in the mid 10.50's tomorrow morning he may be able to set and back up the D/S record. And that is with a real 1967 Z/28 with a white interior. A great day at the drags! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

I am home baby sitting today! Unless Charlie Jr. breaks or bulbs the others don't have much chance! Did Jerry M. set the record this morning?

Chevy454 10-24-2008 09:01 PM

Re: Maple Grove Dutch Classics

No...think he went like a .72?

Westcotts roll...lots of redlights in 1st round...

Chevy454 10-25-2008 12:01 AM

Re: Maple Grove Dutch Classics

Jr goes another .38, Sr. had to drive around Barton on the big end for the win...Daniels & Pancake each draw the Charlie show.

Pancake vs. Jr, Daniels vs. Sr.

Looks like another possible all Charlie final...

Re: Maple Grove Dutch Classics

Please explain details of J.M. selling (and WHY) his "old" 67Z and building a new car.

Stick shift Super Stock cars I would think are the rarity now days. What kind of trans set-up would J.M. likely run.

My C/SM car back in the day used a Doug Nash 4 spd, but I'm not in the know on what current Stock Elim rules allow.....

Re: Maple Grove Dutch Classics

Jerry just went 10.689 @ 122.95...

Jr spins & Sr redlights!

Pancake & Daniels in the final...

Re: Maple Grove Dutch Classics

I guess he sold his old (restored) 1967 Z/28 cause the money was right. Why do most people sell? I also think he always wanted to run a car under his banner "Camaro High Performance" so he built a 1967 Z/28 because he is a "Z/28" guy to run in D/S. The Stock/Superstock guys use Jerico 4 speeds now Chuck. Yes they are somewhat rare but there is s strong following in Stock around DIV-1 for the Stick Guys.

Evan Smith said on the broadcast he thought Old Reliable was a no sale @ $400k, and that he still has it... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Maple Grove Dutch Classics

They both bulb, but Pancake moreso...-.012 to a -.005...ouch! Win to Daniels! Both go .47 @ 154

Re: Maple Grove Dutch Classics

Will try and set the NHRA D/Stock national record in the spring. Came within 0.08 on the second outing with the new car (10.56). 10.64 at 124.08 mph was the best past for me and that was 40 lbs heavy. The car will have to hook better than 1.461 for me to get the record. Had had a lot of nice comments from other racers about the new car at the Dutch. Was worth all of the time to build this new Z28 rocketship.
