Thanks Dan! Sean |
Re: wTB:69 copo chevelle
Sean, did Yenko Chevelles start out as a COPO like the Camaros in 1969? Stefano has a Yenko Chevelle for sale. Did you contact him on the other Chevelle?

Re: wTB:69 copo chevelle
The '69 Yenkos started out as COPO cars. SS&DI July or August 1969 had a writeup on a Yenko Chevelle. I think that this was the car that went 13.31 at 108 mph. In the day, there were very few articles on these cars. Roger Huntington was one of the few who seemed to know that the COPO Chevelles even existed.

Re: wTB:69 copo chevelle
Sean, you may have seen the Burnished Brown COPO mentioned in the Team Chevelle 'what's it worth' forum last week. I am not sure that it can be bought, but it may be worth pursuing just to check.

Re: wTB:69 copo chevelle
I did talk with Stefano on the other car. The copo is just more of a mysterious car to me versus the Yenko. More reasonable in price as well.

Re: wTB:69 copo chevelle
The guy that has that brown COPO turned down 80,000.00 just to give you an idea money wise. Phil.

Re: wTB:69 copo chevelle
For what the car is it is way over priced. Plus nothing original for it and needs a full resto.

Re: wTB:69 copo chevelle
Does the brown car really need a total resto? I would drive it as-is!

Re: wTB:69 copo chevelle
What happened to the original drivetrain?

What happened to the original drivetrain? Sean [/ QUOTE ] I remember the car coming in under warranty a few times. Once we replaced the ring gear and another time we rebuilt the trans. The axle housing and trans case are original to the car. The car was traded into Scuncio by the second owner,at that time it had a 350 in it I don't know where the 427 went. I resold it to the original owner a few days later and he still has it. |
Re: wTB:69 copo chevelle
So much for the HD COPO-spec gearset! It's neat to hear a first-hand account of these cars when they were new. Certainly explains why the drivetrains in most of them are long gone.
