Scuncio Chevrolet
Who has a car from Scuncio Chevrolet?
|
Re: Scuncio Chevrolet
Check with Tony N, goes by "Scuncio" on the site. He likely knows who all has one.

Re: Scuncio Chevrolet
Here's a feature on a Scuncio delivered L72 car for starters...there's more around too..
If you've come up w/ something, Bob Johnson has some of the original Vins/Orders on file.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/show...fpart/all/vc/1 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |
Re: Scuncio Chevrolet
-----I dont have a Scunzio car and never have but I drove the one and only Scunzio ZL1 late in the summer of 69. I was looking for a new 69 Camaro or Chevelle and it was sitting right inside the big glass doors of the showroom when I showed up. The salesman kept telling me how great it was. He offered to get it off the floor and let me drive it and being the young punk I was, I said "sure"! I have to say that the car was way underwhelming that day, and it could have been for many, many reasons, but I just plain didnt like it......DUH https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif. And, in fact they never did sell the car with the engine in it, if I recall. I think I heard that they yanked it and dropped in an L78.......Bill S

Not sure who has the paperwork now, old link dead but some of the Scuncio VIN's listed here... https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...=116333&page=2 :beers: ~ Pete . |
I know this is an old thread but I was going to start a thread pretty much asking the same question. But, so as not to be redundant, I figured I'd just resurrect this old one.
My 68 Z28 wasn't actually sold new from Scuncio, but it was traded in there in 1972, and subsequently bought by Bob Johnson, the high performance manager, who had up to 12 or so drag cars he raced, and/or sponsored for other racers to run....all bought new from Scuncio. I was born and still live in RI, and often visited this dealer's parts department while building many Chevys, and went to elementary school with the Scuncio kids. I have a few friends who own Scuncio cars, and have seen a COPO or two said to have been sold out of that dealership. It is said a Yenko car was also sold through Scuncio. |

A few Scuncio photos.

My car when it was first starting to hit the strip, only sporting the Bob Johnson Racing Enterprises, the Scuncio, and speed equipment sponsor lettering on it. Eventually it would be covered with decals from bumper to bumper.

I have posted many pics of my car on this website and others, when it was still a Scuncio sponsored drag car, but here are the other Bob Johnson cars that ran the north east tracks in the 60s and 70s.
Seemed to have quite a number of 69 Camaros. Some Z28s, SSs,...but no idea if any were COPOs,...even though it is known some COPOs were sold out of Scuncio. |
Strip Teaser I - 69 Z28.
I know where this car is, and who owns it, and it has been in pretty much the same state of "restoration and modification" for decades. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds |

Looks like another different 69.

Another 69,...maybe one that was posted already with different paint but does look like a different car all together.

Strip Teaser II in a Scuncio ad. Notice the reference to the "Shark" Corvette funny car.

Here's the Shark funny car with Scuncio sponsorship letting on it.

An aerial view of the front lot of Scuncio Chevrolet. It's part of a Stop and Shop plaza now.

A rare photo of another 68 Z28, (aside from mine) with RS option, with Scuncio on the door, but Bob Johnson on the rear quarter.

A 1968 SS Chevelle running the Scuncio banner. Again like the 68 Camaro above, Bob Johnson in script on an angle on the rear quarter.

One of the earliest models I have seen. A 1966 4 door Impala.

How about a 4 door 1969 Chevelle station wagon, also in Canada.

In New England and even further, if you wanted a fast Ford, you went to Tasca Ford in RI.
If you wanted a fast Chevy, you went to Scuncio Chevrolet in RI. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds |

Bases on the 3 piece rear spoiler which started in 1971 unless your 70 was a COPO,.... and the lack of the big 1973 bumper guards, this looks like either a 71 or 72 Z28.
