12 bolt axle codes??
In the COPO and other Yenko type supercars from 68-69 is the BE coded rear the only acceptable code or could it be BV coded when equipped with 4.10's. thanx , DAVE

Re: 12 bolt axle codes??
Only "BE" rear for the COPO 9561 and 9560 cars (factory installed iron and aluminum block 427's). "BV" sounds like a Z-28 or SS rear.

Re: 12 bolt axle codes??
The BV rear used a different ring and gear, case, spiders, springs and plates ,than the COPO exclusive BE.

Re: 12 bolt axle codes??
Were the unique parts of the BE rear made just for the COPO, or were they taken from the parts bin for other vehicles, such as truck?

Re: 12 bolt axle codes??
It came out of a 68 L-78 car. thanx for the help. DAVE

Re: 12 bolt axle codes??
In the Chevelles, GM had two different 4:10 coded rearends. Our L78 car has the KK unit while the COPO car has the MQ piece. The same would apply to the Camaros. My parts books list the MQ rearend but doesn't show any special parts in the parts listing. An original '69 parts book might be a better source. My book is a 1981 reprint.

Re: 12 bolt axle codes??
MQ? I thought the COPO Chevelles received KQ's?

Re: 12 bolt axle codes??
Yeah, I think Tedford got his alphabet mixed up! Block was "MQ" (or "MP") and the rear was "KQ".
