Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
My M20 is being restored by Fellow sYc alumni Nick Morocco:-)
Nick picked up the Trans at MCACN and sent a few pictures as he starts inspecting it. "Ryan, I started the disassembly of your Muncie and wanted to share some pictures with you. This may take a couple of emails to send them all so there may be some additional emails. There are a couple of issues you will see in the pictures. They are: · The tail shaft has been welded on where the drive shaft yoke goes in. Looks like a rear U-joint may have broken causing the drive shaft to whip around. If that is the case, you may see some signs of that on your floor boards. The other possibility could be the drive shaft is too long causing the yoke to be pushed too far as the suspension flexes. Please chek for this at final assembly. You need about ¾ to 1 inch travel from where the yoke is bottomed into the trans and the rear U-joint needs pulled into the differential yoke. · 4th gear shows a lot of synchro teeth wear as does 1st gear. First gear could be attributed to clutch adjustment and 4th gear to driver. 2nd and 3rd look surprisingly better that 1st and 4th. Go figure. · The side cover “inside” arms are the weakest arms ever made. You can see that in the pictures. Just a small connection point from there are forks attach on the inside and the outside arms attach. The outside threads are also 5/16 studs which is also a weak point. We have a few options we can talk about before assembly. Nick Morocco" |

I have been looking into clutch linkage:-) Olds guys say GH is correct:-)
Have a bracket coming for the brake distribution block as mine was moved on top of the frame for header clearance. Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
The bracket is an easy find, but first check with Al Stager. He may have the bracket?.....You are fortunate to have the correct Z-bar and adjuster.....as originals are very difficult to find.

Good point I will check if Al has any loose items floating around:-)
An Olds guy offered the bracket for free, just shipping cost:-) (So many people have jumped in to help me out!!!!) I really appreciate all the support!!! Ryan |
