Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
The education continues...........I bought a Power Bench seat out of a 4 door car off ebay.....and my thought was that maybe the bench seat bottom would be close enough that I could modify it to work with the Strato seat back.......went and picked it up and it was in pretty good shape with just minor surface rust.......and as a bonus the seat motor and mechanisms worked.....so...I took it apart and realized that the seat frames weren't even close.....Oh Well!!! At least I got a good Power unit and some spare seat springs that might come in handy later.....And I found another Strato-Bench for a 4 door car (Non movable seat backs) ......So I bought it as I should be able to piece together one seat out of the three....LOL......Don't ya just Love it when a plan comes together..........Time for plan "C"......

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
Still waiting for the third seat to be shipped..........But.....In the mean time another one of those nagging little issues got corrected.......Now....I have a Dakota Digital dash set-up in the car and I've been chasing a discrepency in the voltmeter readings displayed in the dash and what I was checking at the Alternator and the Battery terminal.....the dash display would fluctuate between 12.1 and 12.7 volts......with everything on......(I have a new 140 Amp Alternator).....I couldn't understand why the Alternator couldn't keep up.....I would check at the Alt and it would be approx 14 volts......at the fuse panel I would be showing the 12.1 to 12.5 number...........Hummm!!.....I checked all the grounds and everything I could think of.....Didn't make any sense.....I put the Battery charger on for a couple of days and when I went to start the car the starter clicked like the Battery was dead (terminals were clean and tight)....then it started right up on the next try.......Humm!!!
We were getting ready to go to Beloit and I was uncomfortable and swapped out the Battery with the 66 Nova (New Diehard).......Drove out to Beloit and the Voltmeter showed 13.5 to 13.7 all the way out there.....Don't know anything about Batteries but it seems that even though it started fine till the end, it seems that's where the trouble was all along...........I'm getting smarter every day.....LOL |

Wow...good catch Ken!

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
I was just discussing something similar with some guys the other night. Seems a battery can have an internal short and behave just like you said Ken. It is a hard one to catch.
