I don’t know how correct these particular 63 Corvettes are, but this Saddle Tan is a gorgeous exotic color.
If I were ever fortunate to have a Split Window I’d want this factory color.

In late summer of 1970, I bought a '67 Camaro in that same aqua color with aqua interior. My first wife passed her driver test in that car that fall too. It was a great little car, but I quickly moved on big block mayhem the next year.

----This 66 came thru Classic Motors back in about 76 or so. It is the real deal, but when the boss took delivery it had plumbers pipe scabbed into the exhaust system. I remember laughing my ass off about it at the time.
----As well,,, I had actually talked to the owner at Carlisle that year before moving to Chicago to work at Classic. I had a 66 427/425 red convert at the fall show and the owner of this car struck up a conversation with me about his 4500 mile red-on-red car culminating with an invitation to come to his house to purchase the car. I took his number fully thinking I would buy the car, and then lost his number. A while later I moved to Chicago and there the car was! You can't make that up!....Bill S

Question for the mid-year Corvette people?

Curious what would cause this deterioration (pitting / blistering) of the metal console around the shifter on a low mile pampered Survivor.

It seems moisture may have entered through the rubber boot area?

I love this Excellent Unrestored ‘66 Vette, just curious.

That is one bad a$$ looking C2. Love the flares and the side pipes and the wheels.

Very normal. I suspect it has to do with trapped humidity / condensation in the top of the trans tunnel.

----What you are seeing in these pics is a very massaged low mile car. When it came thru Classic Motors it was in dire need of a major cleanup. It was stored under less than good conditions. I mentioned the cast iron pipe exhaust in my other post, and that wasn't the only thing needing replacement. I won't say how the paint was massaged, but will just say there has been a lot of work done on the paint over the years. The interior still managed to be brought back to new, but the aluminum console plate was kept original and it looks like minor corrosion is creeping in from the edges. It happens....Bill S

I have a folder on this ‘66 GTO saved from a couple years ago because at that time it was an unmolested Original paint Survivor.
It was in nice condition that needed Service, Detailed and a good home.

Not anymore.
One more Original Muscle Car does not exist now …. very sad.

Sometimes it's harder to preserve them as original than restore them, Bill. I've been there.

I have one in the shop right now that I am dealing with that problem. Too nice to restore yet 37 years of sitting has left its mark.
