Why did I already know that.....all good my friend. Family always first.

Dan

mockingbird812 06-01-2017 03:03 PM

I believe Dan is talking about Dave coming out to the August Chevelle show in Ohio and Dave thinks Dan is referring to the MCACN show in Nov.

DW31S 06-01-2017 03:54 PM

I did think he was asking about the MCACN.

Postsedan 06-01-2017 08:55 PM

Dave and I spoke.....all good now. Dave is going to see if he can join us at the 2017 NOCC :D

I had the pleasure of seeing this fine example of automotive history in person today--one word springs to mind--"stunning".

Better yet, I got to spin a few wrenches on it with Sam.

Thank you Sam. :beers:

Ah, the thanks are going in your direction my good man. It was nice to see you and Rachel and spend the afternoon together.

Eric used his highly acute sleuthing skills to track down an ignition system gremlin that was causing the Chevelle to hiccup a bunch and was progressively getting worse. Turns out there was a poor connection for the points. Changed out the condenser and spark plugs as well. Set timing and dwell and she was feeling her old self again in no time.

When we did an initial timing check, it turns out that total mechanical advance was 46-47 degrees! We saw the original owners (Wayne Tuck) handy work with day-two performance mod to the springs to provide this extra advance. This sparked a memory I had from a conversation with Wayne a few years back. He boasted part of his setup for racing was that he installed a kit to provide 48 deg total advance - I included this note in the 2008 HMM article about his car.

Needless to say, between Eric's handy work on my Chevelle's Holley (restored last year) and the distributor, things are running real good now.

THANK YOU Eric!!!

Super time at NOCC show!! Great people, neat cars, good grub! Finally got the "twins" together and they felt very comfortable for having never met before! Woj's is an INCREDIBLE specimen! Now time to prep for MCACN this fall. I asked Bill Schultz (Rita's hubby) to do another caricature like he did for my Deuce a few years back. True to form, he knocked it out of the park! The details of his art work should give you a clue to some of the day2 transformation that my Chevelle will under go.

Big thanks again to Grady for gittin' me there in style!!!....

That is some very cool pics!!!

DW31S 08-07-2017 08:30 PM

Sorry to say that I obviously wasn't at the show. I'm still being hampered with this back pain resulting from the march 27 spinal fusion. Most of the time the pain is off the charts and to travel that far for a car show just wasn't going to happen. Maybe next year.

Ryan1969Chevelle 08-07-2017 09:14 PM

Nice to see both of you guys Sam and Phil.

Also nice to see these great survivors together:-)

The Day 2 plan is exciting, especially as your car was day 2 ed back in the day:-)

Too cool, Sam! What a savage sketch!!

The Bill & Rita combo are a championship-level team!

olredalert 08-07-2017 10:36 PM

----X-2 on the Sam and Phil part, Ryan. Also, add your name to the list........Bill S

Bill Pritchard 08-11-2017 01:49 AM

Was Bill Schultz tutored by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth? Great sketch. Nice to see the 'twins' together :)

Postsedan 08-11-2017 01:54 AM

The two twins parked next to one another was the high light of the NOCC Show :D

Thanks again to Phil, Grady and Sam :D

Dan

Woj 08-11-2017 03:41 AM

What a treat to get the twins together. Sam and I have talked about this for years and this year we finally did it. Grady was helpful in getting Sam's car to the show. We had a great time with all the Chevelle guys, lots of great info and stories shared. A good time had by all.

Phil Woj.

mockingbird812 08-11-2017 03:22 PM

Super get-together - just great seeing old friends and making new.

Yes Bill, I feel that Bill S must be channeling Ed Roth's work. I just love the energy and goofiness in his caricatures. There are some really neat details in the car that just blow my mind! I really felt he caught the essence of me and my faithful pup Abbey! ;>)

Salvatore 08-11-2017 06:35 PM

Those two chevelles are really killer. Real nice stuff!

Xplantdad 10-26-2017 01:19 AM

Postsedan 10-26-2017 01:35 AM

That's what I'm talking about :D

Nothing better than "Day2"

I can't wait to see it.

Well done Sam.

Dan

Woj 10-26-2017 01:42 AM

Sam.

Those are some nice accessories. Can't wait to see your car in "full day-two dress".

Sam and I will have our cars together at MCACN. My car was originally a "church and grocery" car bought new by Mabel Summerlin. Sam's will be wearing the day two battle uniform, mine will be in stock clothing.

Phil Woj.

Thanks guys, I am really looking forward to debuting the 'velle at MCACN and hanging with the Buckeye boys and their cool rides (another 2 Chevelles (Rich and Woj) and some ol' 67 Cramo with an L88 stuffed under the hood that Grady hauled out of his basement). ;>)

Planning on driving up from Dayton on Saturday. Love to see your car. Do you know where you will be at the convention center?

Dave - not exactly sure, but here is what Bob Ashton relayed to us....

"Located in big room, close to vintage, third block from the chute. Two blocks closer to the three copo's and the zl1 were last year. open in all four sides"

hope this helps - see you there "neighbor"!
