Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Crazy stuff...is it a '59 or '60?.
Can't say I'd put too much trust in that rollbar?. Really love that extra hood w/ the scoop!. Too bad that StepVan wasn't a bit newer and Chevy powered...just thinking of those 6-bolt converter TH400's!. ~ Pete https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
is there any better feeling in the world than walking through the weeds towards the car you had heard about..
|
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Only the feeling you get walking through a field and stumbling across a sweet car you knew nothing about and the owner tells you to get it out of his hair.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
While looking for some photos for another thread I ran across these in my archive. These are vintage photos from the driveway of the guy I bought my 70 hemi Charger from 20 years ago. He passed away in a tragic accident last year.
I cant recall whether it was a 454 or 396 in the El Camino but it was an unrestored car. Behind it under a tarp was an original 1970 L78 Camaro (probably with an automatic https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif). Also in the yard was a 1969 hemi GTX with 17,000 miles. Colin recently acquired this car and sold it last year. Inside the garage was a 65 or 66 Sting Ray with a 327/365 horse engine. A friend of his has that car now. The Firebird had some bizarre 70's panel mural paint job. I dont recall what the drivetrain was, but knowing him, it was probably an SD455 as he didnt have any "normal" cars there. He had cars (including a 69 COPO Camaro) and engines all over the place. I'm sorry I didnt take more photos at the time. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...a/scan0008.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...a/scan0001.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...scan0003-1.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...a/scan0004.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...a/scan0005.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...a/scan0006.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...a/scan0007.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...harger1987.jpg |

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Steve, great pics! the elky is a 396/350 4speed. nice patina under the hood. Dennis C. check out the lift bracket https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Looks like that Corvette was an old gasser. I see a solid front axle under it. What a crime.
I recall a 1954 Kaiser Darrin in high school that was butchered to have a 283 Chev drivetrain installed. Very fast but what a waste of a very rare car. Nice conversion, but ragged to death by the second owner and junked. |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Negative on the straight axle, the Vette was in stock configuration, just painted up wildly. I think it was sitting high because the motor was out at the time.

With the Malibu turn signal lenses and incorrect two piece fan shroud too.
It looks to be an Oshawa,Ontario build possibly, based on that pic. |

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
The car looks like it was smacked in the front at one time and that is why some of those things have been changed.bumper, grill, shround etc.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Here's something more recent. I was traveling to work the other day and saw this sitting out during someone's garage cleaning, I guess. I stopped to say Hi, but the owner wasn't around. Original paint, 70 Mach 1. The dash completely out and it looks to have been that way for a long time. Not registered since early 1980's. Vin code was "H" 351 Windsor 2-barrel. Amazing shape for its age with only some minor rust bubbles starting in the bottom of the quarters.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
[b] This has been sitting in this driveway for quite some time. Sometimes it has a plastic tarp on it,
sometimes a for sale sign. The hood has a couple of hood pins in the back and appears to tilt forward. I don't know where that rear design came from. Maybe its a customized Motion car - yeah - dream on! - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...evy/1003-1.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...evy/1002-1.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...evy/1004-1.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...Chevy/1005.jpg - |

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Saddening pictures of a 1970 GTO convertible.
I have know of this car for 10+ years. Nothing has been done other than rotting away. The woman said her dad bought it for her when she was 15 and she is now 40. Her dad has since passed away and she can't bring herself to sell it. It is Cardinal Red, white top, black cloth bench seat interior, column shift, power windows, standard 400 4bbl auto. Does not run. The front valance is beat up from when it last ran then broke down. The tow truck driver hooked to the frame through the valance grills. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...c/DSC03992.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...c/DSC03993.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...c/DSC03994.jpg |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
------I believe that this Corvette may be the remains of a very rare remodeled Corvette that a guy in Miami named Bobby Rautbord had made in low numbers called a Finovette. Initially, his idea was to build a car that would complement his line of boats built in the Magnum factory called Finos. The boats were beautiful. Ive been trying to aquire a good one for years, but there were only about 30 made and they are extremely hard to find. The Finovettes were nowhere near as successful and I have no idea how many were made. Probably in the single didgets. This one appears to have had the nose replaced as well as the rear wing that was originally inbetween the added rear buttresses. The treatment right behind the side windows is the giveaway. I have never seen that anywhere else. A very forgetable modified Corvette with at least half of it gone anyway..........Bill S

Here's one I found the other day, in a town on the Alaska highway. A 68 Firebird 400 Convertible.
No one answered the door, but you could see trash all through the house. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...400convert.jpg |
