Re: Backyard finds today
I see what looks like the front of a P-40 E Curtiss Flying Tiger but the last pic shows a side profile that is not the same as one of those WWII aircraft. Cool pics

Re: Backyard finds today
I would guess a P39 Aerocobra judging by the cockpit antenae mount and the greenhouse configuration?
|
Re: Backyard finds today
Didn't the P-40 evolve from the P-39?
|
Re: Backyard finds today
What ever the plane is, I found that very interesting that the Judge is parked next to it. This location is a closely guarded secret, but makes you wonder if it's next to a landing strip.
FYI, I do not know the location. |
Re: Backyard finds today
By the looks of what is in that hanger or garage , I think it would be interesting to poke around there and see what other cool things the guy has https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Backyard finds today
Everything seems to be buried up to its axles...
|
Re: Backyard finds today
The plane looks to me like an OK cropduster. The cockpit is way to close to the prop to be a warbird. JMO
|
Re: Backyard finds today
There is a lot of farm land around here and cropdusters, so I say Andy hit it right on.
|
Re: Backyard finds today
Your'e right, the P39 would have the engine behind the cockpit with the exhaust stacks behind the greenhouse. It was an odd design as a mid engined fighter. It was not too successful as a fighter but found limited success as a ground attack plane. A lot of them were lend-leased to the Russians as tank busters early in WWII. I believe there are only two left in existance in airworthy condition.

Re: Backyard finds today
However Charly might want that tractor!!
|
Re: Backyard finds today
It looks like a time capsule in there! Sure has been a long time since anyone was rummaging around in there due to all the debris on the floor going up to the wheels.

Re: Judge and SS
The 67 SS is a RS as well isn't it?
The paint appears to be original... do you know if it is? The Bumblebee stops at a point just above or right behind the bumper... My dad has always claimed that this is correct for 67's (he had one new) but I have seen very few that have the stripe ending there. Opinions??? |
Re: Judge and SS
Does you dad mean something like this:

Re: Judge and SS
Here's what is suppose to be a true 69 RS convertible. Story goes it's been sitting for over twenty years and has been moved four different times. Sat at one house up till about six years ago, then sat in another driveway (owner got married and moved) for a while. They moved it around back the house because they were tired of being bothered. About two years ago, they moved it back out here, guy I talked to thinks they just want the attention it gets.
It was wrecked back in the seventies and original RS front clip was not put back on. Same story, "we're going to fix it up". They were offered $24k for it, think they should have jumped. 69 Camaro RS Convertible |
Re: Judge and SS
Is this still in NJ?
Not sure those NJ blue license plates were avail yet in the 70's that are on it. George |
Re: Judge and SS
Nope. They lived in NJ when they bought it but went south. I'd like to give the location but they were even hestitant about me taking pics.
|
Re: Judge and SS
i found a couple cars in the Jacksonville NC area that couldn't be touched for any amount of cash. one was a red w/black stripes and interior 68 Z28 4spd, and the car sitting next to it was a 67 or 68 396 Biscane drag car. both were in pretty sad shape and rumor has it the Z is matching #s.

Re: Backyard finds today

[/ QUOTE ] I'd dispute that one. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif White and red is probably the rarest color combo for the Daytonas. I think only two or three are known to exist? Looked like an easy resto (for a Mopar guy). |
