Re: Judges
I have that Pontiac VOE 1970 Commercial on 16MM film around here somewhere.
|
Re: Judges
I have also seen at least one 70 Judge convertible in a magazine that had a column shifted automatic. This car was black and the copy said the original owner was handicapped and used hand controls. I wouldn't imagine there were too many judges with the lever on the tree.
|
Re: Judges
I love that old commercial! Very cool cars at that drive in when the kid in the GTO comes rumbling through.
"The Humbler, and that's the way its gonna be!" |
Re: Judges
Those old commercials are great. Turbo, GTO Don used to own a black 70 Judge with a red interior that was column shifted ( chick stick ). There is also a 70 RA IV Judge that has a bench seat running around out there
|
Re: Judges
Rear lamp indicator? Was this a inter.light?Or for the back up lights? There has been acouple of options mentioned but what would be the rarest option on a GTO or Judge?
|
Re: Judges
I can get the option code later but the rear lamp indicator was similar to the ones used in Cadillacs or the era. When you used the brakes or turn signals the lights on the indicator would light up if they did not light up it meant a bulb was burnt out. You could see it in your rear view mirror. I bet the lamp indicator option is pretty darn close to being the rarest option, then you look at the rear window defroster option that used the filaments on the glass like today's cars, not the noisy blower. I have seen a Ram Air IV Judge with that option.
|
Re: Judges
WOW like I said I never heard of this indicator option.Column shift thats got to pretty damn rare too.I bet there is alot of muscle cars out there with option we dont know about.
|
Re: Judges
The option code for the rear lamp monitor was U48 and the electric rear- window defroster was C49. Reclining front buckets and the 60 second headlamp turn off delay options are rarely seen as well
|
Re: Judges
My 69 Judge hardtop is a Starlight Black RAIV car with black bench seat interior and column shift Turbo 400. One of the 58 RAIV/Automatic Judges made in 69. It has the original #'s matching drivetrain and is documented by PMD. Hoping to start restoration on it next winter. Jim
|
Re: Judges
Was a headlamp washer option available for the 69 Judge like there was on the RS Camaros?
|
Re: Judges
Not available on the GTO.
|
Re: Judges
You've mentioned some options that I never thought you could get on a GTO or Judge.I can probably bet that some of the option on the option list never got into a GTO.
|
Re: Judges
I have only seen a few RAIV/automatic Judges with bench seat and column shift. Pretty rare. Lucky to have bought mine in 1979. Wont be buying any more as this project will break the bank to restore. Nice to see the Pontiacs recognized as "Supercars" now. Too bad I am priced out of affording any more. I personally wish these cars werent worth much so I could afford to buy more down the road. I will just have to be happy with 2 GTO's and my Harley. Jim
|
Re: Judges
Its not good to buy a Judge right now unless you have money to blow on one.Even the GTO's are getting pricey theres people out there that cant even afford to buy a GTO let alone a Judge. The market is there if you want to sell. Its good that you bought your Judge when you did because you could make alot of money but if I were you I would'nt.Bench seat and column shift WOW thats never seen.
|
Re: Judges
The oddity of the column shift is cool, there was a white 69 Judge here years ago for sale for a mere $500 and mostly intact. Had the bench seat column shift.
But let me tell you; as most of you already know, that column shifter sucks a BIG ONE in performance. |
Re: Judges
I agree, just because some options are rare just like colors does not mean they are desireable.
|
Re: Judges
Yeah I agree with you just because some option is rare like say a pink Judge does'nt mean its desirable. You've got to admit that column shift is unique.
|
Re: Judges
I ran a column shift in mine just for grins back in about 92, and it was a bad experience. Reminds me of the period in my life that I owned a Ford.
|
Re: Judges
Your right the column shift is'nt the greatest for drag racing.Hell I would like to own a column shift bench seat GTO or Judge it makes the car differant from the others.
|
Re: Judges
The bench seat is awesome, you can get your woman right up next to you. Assuming you would want that... haha
My GT-37 has bench; although I haven't driven it yet, I'm looking forward to it. The Hurst handle was a nightmare to find, as the original didn't come with the car. |
Re: Judges
What year is your GT-37?And is it a 400 or 455?Either way GT-37's are cool cars you dont see them every day.Thats the reason why I like the bench seat too.
|
Re: Judges
Is your GT-37 pretty much plain jane?Or does it have alot of options?
|
Re: Judges
Check it out, I have the build sheet and the PHS posted. The rest of the cars are just cool stuff I've found or some one has sent.
GT-37 Page |
Re: Judges
Cool project labor of love I bet. This is some information I have on GT-37's I dont know how accurate it is but here go's.
711/2 GT-37 Foil Stripe's-43 711/2 GT-37 Black&Gold Trim-7 Total-50 This is a sample of what I have on GT-37 cars I've done some research on these cars for some time now.I started doing my own research on Judges 2yrs. ago thats why I've been asking alot of question about Judges. |
Re: Judges
The color doesnt seem to matter anymore as that nasty brown 69 Judge sold for $98,000 last week at auction. I think my black car is worth more than that. When it is finished that is! I actually could sell my Judge any day with one phone call but have no plans to as it is my very first car. Its a keeper even though it will be worth a pile of money. Jim
|
Re: Judges
Its always nice to have that option in selling the car even if you dont want to sell.I'm asumming that your Judge is Starlight Black? Is it a RAlV?4speed Auto?
|
Re: Judges
From what I have rid on various forums the brown Judges are'nt very popular. From the list my friend gave me it lists 8 Expresso Brown Judge HT's.Very rare color its not eye appealing at all but if I owned one I would'nt change the color because of that fact hell that brown Judge you mentioned sold for $98,000 someone liked it.
|
Re: Judges
My Judge is Starlight Black with RAIV/automatic. Any rare car that is documented and is #'s matching is selling at a high price regardless of color. It took a while for the non Pontiac people to figure out that there are some rare Pontiacs out there and worth owning as much as a Hemi car. The average guy will be hard pressed to own anything rare now that the demand exceeds supply a great deal. But some rare ones are still being uncovered. Jim
|
Re: Judges
I agree with you there are undiscovered cars out there more than we think.Prices on Judges right now are sky high but its going to come to a point and the market is going to drop. Its a very good time to sell but like you said for the average guy its not happen.Any big block muscle car that is very rare is going to be out of reach for the average Joe.Even the some small block cars are outragious in price(LT-1's,340 six-packs,351 boss ect). Its getting unreal but like I said the market will fall evenually.
|
Re: Judges
Has there ever been a poll taken to see which year Judge was the favorite? The 70 Judge would be my favorite.
|
Re: Judges
Did any body see that Muscle Car Challage on the speed channel yesterday? It had a 70 Buick GS Vert 455 Stage 1 car,69Boss 429 Mustang,68 AMX,70 Chevelle LS-6,69 Hurst Olds and a 69 Judge RAlll car.It seemed that all of the manufactoriers had there top of the line cars except for pontiac. The 69 Judge with the RAlll is no slow poke buy no means but when the car is up againest cars like the LS-6,455HO,Stage1,I think the show should of chosen a RAlV Judge for the task.

Re: Judges
Steve, is that the same car that was pictured in the MRC article that I sent you?
Also, when was the ad dated? This car has changed hands a few times since then, hasn't it? Andy |
Re: Judges
Andy
The article says 1977 HMN, so I assume that would be Hemmings. I did not back track on my list to see which one it was, yet. |
Re: Judges
I believe Dr Michael Green owned that car recently and it was in HPP and MCR. Nice car, that address is about 45 minutes southeast of me in that old ad very cool.
|
Re: Judges
I've seen this ad before years ago.Pretty cheap considering its a 71 Judge vert. But of course back in the late 70's $17,500 was alot of money.Cool ad.
|
Re: Judges
Steve, please excuse my dumb question, since I did send you the article. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif(It's the medication.) The car that you posted was sold by Miller Pontiac in Kansas to Mrs. Miller for a Valentine's Day present. At the time of the published MRC issue, it was owned by Mike Green. The ad states that the good doctor selling the car was the original owner.
Obvious that they are 2 different cars, but both Artic white. Does Mike Green own more than one? Andy https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif |
Re: Judges
Mike I don't think thats not the same car as Dr Greene had. I seen that car back in 77 when he was selling it. I remember at the time we all thought he was out of his mind. You could buy a beautiful hardtop for 2500,00-4000.00. I heard that car went to and is still is in sweden. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif Dr.Greene has more cars.
|
Re: Judges
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif I agree w/Don. Mike's was a diff. car, came out of midwest. It was a real loaded car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: Judges
Lets say that you have a 69-70 RAlV car and a 71 455HO car set up the same(4speed,same gear ratio in the rear ect.)Which one would more likely win a drag race?
