Thanks Bruce!

WOW, OMG, I used to think the Gold on Gold was a bit much, but I'm rethinking that right now. Stunning Chuck...:worship:

Thanks Mitch. I didn’t even really like gold exterior much but my wife loved it. She wanted a gold camaro. I told her, “Only way is if it is originally gold!” Next day I found this car. It was meant to be.
|
I don't know what else I can add my friend.
The car is simply outstanding...and your attention to detail is absolutely spot on man! |

Some day, I need to post how my first Harley came about. My wife is STILL sorry she set the parameters and that was 25 years ago... Ironically, she LOVES riding our current Harley. |

Finished trunk shot. The jacking instructions are original! I was able to peel it off and glue it back after we jammed the deck lid. The spatter paint is original. I did not restore the spatter paint on the trunk floor either. The car did not originally have a trunk mat but I think it finished it off nicely.

Super Cool!!!!

The car is basically complete now. The Ellis Brooks emblem (eBay score) is the crown jewel. I had other plans for the black panel but this expensive little piece of pot metal greatness trumped those plans. The car really deserved this in my opinion. As I prepared to drill three little holes in my car I looked in the trunk to find where we welded up the old holes where an emblem exactly like this used to sit. I never would've guessed I'd find the correct emblem, let alone an NOS one. I figured the original emblem was taken off in 1969 when this car was traded in to Stewart Chevrolet, competitor dealer also in San Francisco, which would never want to advertise for Ellis Brooks. They just left holes right in the tail panel and sold it like that :eek2:. I'm really happy with the result!
Also got the Hotchkis frame connectors installed. Noticeable difference! Back end doesn't want to come around under heavy acceleration anymore, goes straight even though it'll roast the tires thru 2nd gear at 70mph! Also a lot less creaking, especially in and out of driveways, bumps etc. This car is an absolute BEAST! |
Looks awesome Chuck!

Awesome!!!!!!

Awesome, stunning, superlative, way cool....what other words are there to describe this ? You've done a superb job of building this and the care and detail are evident.
:flag: |
Congratulations! You've done a wonderful job on this build!

Thank you guys for the nice words. The car came together nicely. I am truly very pleased, impressed, happy, excited with the car. I'm very grateful for all the help I've received along the way, I got some great friends!
On another subject, last Saturday I sold my blue '68 Camaro. I've had it 19 years... Lots of good memories with that car but I want something different and can't manage or afford more than 2 of these old clunkers right now. The car was sold to a friend and it'll be taken care of, even though he might stuff a 572 between the fenders and turn it into a nostalgic pro stock looking car! Looks like I may be buying a certain very nice '67 Chevelle... |
Man….FANTASTICAL!!!!!!! What an awesome job on this one. This is what this site is all about: seeing other’s projects get completed, the stunning level of restoration you’ve done, and those small details that inspire one to finish up their project! Man that’s gorgeous!!!
Cheers Dave |
Thank you for the kind words Dave. The car was very solid to start with so the overall restoration was probably on the "easier" side compared to most I see. The work you do is very impressive, I am envious of your talent. The body work on the purple 'Cuda you did is stellar.
|
Congrats on the sale of your blue Camaro! I saw it in person a few times and it was NICE!!:headbang:
|
Thanks Bruce, it was a neat car! Lots of good memories with that old car. I sold it to the gentleman who built the big block for the gold car and both parties are happy.

Great to hear! Dave liked your Camaro, too! I have pics of it from one of the trips to SoCal to visit Dave :) |
Chuck, your Camaro is on the Donut Derelicts Facebook page! :headbang:

Wow love the gold.
|
Thanks for sharing Bruce! I got to the donut shop at 5:10 AM to get a front row spot! The car received a lot of attention. The amazing thing about this car is it drives as good as it looks! Looks great in the sun :)
|
Car looks great. Congrats on a job well done.
|
So happy I stumbled across this thread.
What a beautiful '67. The color matched with the black stinger is just TOO cool. |
Thanks guys! I'm pretty proud of it... It's not a "super car" but it is my super car :3gears::smile: I will try to get it out this weekend and get some better pictures of it completed
|
Love the gold, great work, it looks awesome.

Love the gold too, especially w/ black stinger and tail pan! :beers: ~ Pete . |
Congrats on a job well done, this an absolute killer Day2 Camaro!!! I've drooled on Grady's red '67 and this on the same level!! :worship:

Looks very nice.
How is the header coating holding up ? |

Long way to haul it, but it would be a star attraction in a Day 2 display at MCACN...:flag: |
Mark and Pete, thank you! I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on the body/paint. Especially on the gold!
Bill, thank you very much! That’s a HUGE compliment! As I previously mentioned, Grady’s car was a heavy inspiration for this car!! Mike, I only have about 150 miles on it but the headers still look great! Bright white. Mitch, I’ve been wanting to go to MCACN but have never been. I really want to get out there this year, not sure about bringing my car though. I plan on driving this car! I read about the Day 2 section on the MCACN website. My car would never qualify for that. Way too many modern components: exhaust system with electric cutouts, frame connectors, msd ignition, auto gear trans, moser rear etc… seems they’re very strict on keeping it real Day 2, which I completely understand. I’m sure there’s a class for the car but I’m not sure if I want to go through the logistics of bringing the car out there… |
Quote:
Wrong!!! You want to take your car to MCACN, you will not regret the logistics and costs, and it will be the best weekend of your car life….. trust me I have dragged my car from another country twice and don’t regret a second, or a penny!!! We all want to see this gold/gold beast!!! Trust me!!! Ryan W31 |

I know I would love to be at MCACN... It's just a big expense to have the car there, I'm sure it would be a very memorable experience.
Anyways, here is my new acquisition. This is my 1967 Chevelle SS 396 L78. Many of you probably know this car. My father purchased this car a few years back and was ready to sell it, so I sold my 68 Camaro and bought this from him. This is the car Curt Biro restored about 12-13 years ago and showed the car at many national events including AACA and MCACN shows. The car has a neat history and is well documented with the original POP and what I believe to be the original drivetrain. I plan on driving this car periodically. The engine, rebuilt by yours truly and some friends, is rebuilt to stock specs, yes requires 100+ octane leaded fuel. Very fun to drive, loves to rev! For me, it does not get much better than this dynamic duo of 1967 Chevrolets. |
That last shot is kind of an iconic one- the black tail panels and black/yellow plates on a couple ‘67s really pop together like that:)
