Glenn....This is how a '70 Chevelle should look! You`ve Got It RIGHT! Well Done!
IMO....I would like it even more without the stripes.....does it have white stripes on the deck lid? Day2 all the WAY!!!!!! Dan |

Love the chevelle it is perfect!

Re: Cars with Cragars
Badass Chevelle.
|
Re: Cars with Cragars
What size wheels / tires / backspace on the back of that black Chevelle? Looks great!
|
Re: Cars with Cragars
Thanks everyone for the compliments. The car has red stripes but I have been contemplating de-striping the car for a cleaner look. The rear wheels are 15x8 with a 4 1/2 rear spacing, M&H Street Tires don't remember the specs off hand but they are 10" tread. Similar to an L-60x15 old school size. I have day2 in my blood, lol.

What tires and are you running up front and what size? They look perfect! |
Re: Cars with Cragars
Thanks all, Been working on the look for a few years and bought the tunnel ram, 660's to do the next step you see here.
Its really a very limited use street car with high compression 468, gforce 4 speed and lots of wheelspin, lol. Gonna blast it at the track once I upgrade the axles and put slicks on it. Should be interesting. As far as the front tires, they are firestone repops, http://www.cokertire.com/670-15-fire...blackwall.html I had Moroso 710x15 drag tires but they wore out. Don't expect much handling with these skinnys, straight line pretty much. day2killa, looking good man!! [img:left]http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...112_204731.jpg[/img] |
Re: Cars with Cragars
Beautiful Engine compartment Glenn.....I see it`s a 4 Speed, even better. What is your shifter of choice?

14-inch shallow backspace Cragars all around! M50x14s in back and F70s up front I think. I'd guess 14x7s and 14x10s. Looks great! |
Re: Cars with Cragars
Close. 14x6 reverse and 14x10. Thanks man. I just wish I could find new tires for the rear. Too nervous to drive it very far on them..

Re: Cars with Cragars
Here is a GTX I found - around the corner from where I grew up. Had Cragars on it.....the original owner still had the original steelies and doggies for it as well. It was the guys college car.
Original paint - 13,0000 miles. 4.10 4-Speed.....and the easy access spark plugs https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ust_found1.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ust_found2.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ust_found3.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...07-washed2.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-29408-15a.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-29409-15b.jpg |

Re: Cars with Cragars
I love the black '70. Like going back in time! Some times I hear people looking at "perfect day 2" appearing stuff and make comments like "ooh, that tunnel ram and those yellow plug wires are so outta style, and the cool can---nobody uses them anymore"; I just bow and shake my head and walk away. They haven't a clue.........

Re: Cars with Cragars
I gotta be honest, when I put the tunnel ram on the car and stepped back I had to crack a few beers and take it all in. Without being self serving, I really dig it a lot, lol. Its not for everyone but it does look cool as hell to me. All the details are from my memories, drag cars of the time etc. There are some things that are not "correct" as they could be like the heads, metal fuel line and fittings but its pretty close. Thanks all for the reviews, makes me proud to represent the era.

Re: Cars with Cragars
Im considering putting the cragars back on my car. How fast have you guys gone on unilugs? Right now im in the low 11's.
|
Re: Cars with Cragars
I wouldn't hesitate to run unilug Cragars. I would suggest strong, extended studs and the mag wheel lugs with the hole in them to let the long studs poke out, but that isn't anything I wouldn't already have anyway.
|
Re: Cars with Cragars
I'm then good to go. I have extended 7/16 studs up front and 1/2 studs out back.
|
Re: Cars with Cragars
Anyone see those new Anniversary Edition Cragar SS caps on sale?

Sorry, those are the 20th Anniversary caps; they have some new 50th Anniversary caps that look almost the same (for some reason, I wasn't allowed to edit or delete that post).
