Not a good sign! Thanks, I will look into it.

Are other sites as enthusiastic about this service?

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Great thanks to the NCRS for providing this service.
One of the 3 VIN's for a black `69 SS396 post sedan came back as being sold new at McCormick Motors in Nappanee, IN. I called the dealer and actually talked with the salesman/owner who ordered the car originally in `69, and has been there for 53 years. He thought he remembered who bought the car as it was his nephew. He gave me the nephew's number, who called me back and remembered the car being sold new to an acquaintance/friend out of Warsaw, IN. He gave me the name, but also said the guy was killed in Viet Nam in early `70. The owner of the dealership, Bernie Beer, says he will ask around to see if anyone he knows may know what happened with the car after that. Great guy! When the car is done, I plan on taking it to McCormick Motors to show it to Bernie. He says he'd love to see it as it's fun for him to relive the performance years too. |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
wow, this has opened up new avenues for our cars/history and validation.
Thanks for a great service! |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Cool story Rick. I'm shipping your emblem tomorrow for your 'other' post sedan....

Pretty cool alright, and the owner was actually saying he was having fun digging into this. Hope the "other" post car ends up having some history info. Look forward to the emblem Tony! |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
The report on my 67 Z28 came like this-
The GM official Production Date was 4/6/1967 The original delivery Dealer was code 0 in zone 40 The name and location of the dealer was: Chevrolet Zone Office Charleston, WV Car is a cowl plenum intake with no non-Z28 options. Any ideas why the zone office would order this car? |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Cars intended for the press were routed through the zone offices...that's my guess.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Received my report today. Sold new at Schwyn Brothers Chevrolet in Blissfield, MI. This lines up exactly with the previous owner's story and I am stoked!

I'm taking tomorrow off of work to wait by the mailbox....
Surprisingly, there was no record of my Yenko Deuce in their database, No worries though, that was the only car of my 4 submissions where I knew where it went originally and where it was sold from - Yenko to Nankivell - thanks to having Yenko's Inventory Sheet, original bill of sale and the POP. But, I'd like to see if other Deuce owners have similar results. |

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I got mine for my 69Z JL8 production date was 6/5/69 Dealer code 615 in zone 15 Ray G Sheeler, Inc Downingtown, Pa the 2and owner bought the car in 70 from the same dealer I have a protect-0-plate that he had. so the first owner bought it new there and traded it back in a year later.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
One of the best parts of this service is that we all find out about dealers that we've never heard of - and when we run across dealer trinkets it will jog our memory and we can pick them up for each other. I'll be looking out for Ray Sheeler stuff now too....

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I'm guessing they are waiting to see how it works out with the current expansion before opening it up to fullsize and Corvairs. But yeah, I can't wait to request the info for our impalas.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Anyone know if these NCRS reports would include any US built cars shipped new to Canadian dealer codes or is it info for cars shipped to US dealers only? If yes to Canadian dealers, is it known if any have happened like this yet...nice surprise if so being it'd indicate the availability of Canadian paperwork! Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I contacted Les Stanford Chevrolet where my L78 Nova was delivered and they gave me a short reply stating they destroy records after 5 years so no luck. I have two build sheets for the car, but would have been nice to get some other original paperwork from the dealer if it was available.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
My JL8 was delivered to Milliken Chevrolet in Culver City, California. Production date was June 3, 1969.
Milliken is closed. Does anybody have any information at all about them? |

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Charley, I posted the picture on my car of the putty filling the holes where the Berger emblem was on your urging. I knew where the car came from after talking to the original owner. Now I have my report stating it and bought the emblem I needed for on the back. The NCRS reports came at the right time for me. Maybe now I can get the first owner to put something on paper for me. Great collection of dealer emblems.

It may be a good idea to include a note & GM Canada Vintage services contact info w/ any NCRS reports supplied for cars like this also Cdn. built cars shipped new to the States as not everyone is aware that VINs crossing the Canada/US border in either direction when new had their RPO info etc recorded thus available today for these cars from Canada Vintage services. Gotta say the recent NCRS service is simply THE best thing that's happened to this hobby in recent years! ~ Pete |
