According to the late Bob De Young, former Cragar brand manager, S/S center section production was moved overseas in 2006. I don't know if the SST center section production was moved at the same time, or if they were simply discontinued... |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
My SST wheels have been on my car since 1992. I bet they discontinued the SST when production went to China. I believe the original tooling was not sent over, but they simply made new tooling. I'm sure the old tooling is still in the US, just don't know in what state it is in or where it is at.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
So you're fine, but 67427 is looking for a pair, and I don't want him to unwittingly buy Chinese wheels. But because they probably discontinued the SST when they moved aluminum component production overseas, he probably doesn't have to worry.

That pump makes your whole back-yard look's so cool. How about a working "AIR"meter next to go with it[I am thinking grand children here]. *Paul

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
always had an air meter in mind. I have a compressor rite behind the garage door at the gas pump with plenty of hose.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
The little tach from my 1973 Camaro. Nobody knows who made it. I needed a new lens, and found another tach on Ebay. The owner saud it was on a 1968 Berger or Nickey Camaro that he bought back in the day. Who knows. My 73 had recipts for parts that were bought from Motion in the 70's. Again who knows. Either way,the replacement tach had a lens that was far too yellowed to use. I made my own out of lexan, and detailed the blacked out areas with a sharpie but I could have done better. I went overboard and recoated the entire outer surface with the sharpie because the textured black surface was chalky. The outside actually came out great. I wouldnt use this on my 7000 rpm race engine, but for my 5000 rpm daily driver that I shift by ear anyway,it is more then fine, and brings the car back to the feel of 1989 for me.

Wow! Thats the first NON staggered mounting pattern Keystone covers I have ever seen. Along with the fact that they have the original Keystone hold downs. I have NEVER seen the hold downs ever.

Cleaning my Shop Finding So many Old Parts
Ok, so I know I have tons of parts in my shop, but until I started cleaning over the weekend I had forgotten what I had!
I took some of the stuff and hung it on a piece of pegboard. [img:center]http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...arageParts.jpg

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...allofParts.jpg |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Pie crust slicks era. When was the prime(muscle car) and when did it end?
Or when was it surpassed by M/H ect ect ThanksDave |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
I should use the search and pull up some decent descussions we've had on this before, but for now I'll try to summarize.
it seemes like the Pie-Crust tires started out in the later 50's and were very popular up until 65/66. It seems that around 67 many of the race cars were switching to the newer tire technology. Others have posted some vintage dated pictures of cars using the Pie-Crust tires up till 1969. That would be my absolute latest time period I think they would be correct if we are trying to generalize things. What are your thoughts Dave? |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
I gotta agree . . . . I don't like seeing the Pie-Crust style slicks on anything newer than 1966-67. After that, the Goodyear BlueStreaks, M&H's or 'Stones look appropriate.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Thanks guys I want to use a set of pie crust slicks on my 69
