Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread

The NMW stuff is really cool. All of their stuff is old USA high quality fabrication. Now the Rocket on the other hand, I got the impression was off-shore "knock'off" quality. Might have been a US company, but more built off-shore and assembled state side at best. Kinda cool, but kinda not given the vintage time line. [/ QUOTE ] https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif I mentioned this in another post, but I owned and operated a couple of speed shops in the mid to late seventies. Rocket stuff was, well, not that good in comparison to others. We even hated putting it on the shelves or hanging it up if it was shipped to us as a substitute part by a WD. If you had a Rocket part beside (for example) the Mr. Gasket piece they copied, customers would never grab the Rocket part. After a while, I got wise and refused parts subbed with Rocket pieces. Some of the better WD's even stopped carrying it. My two cents. Wayne |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
That is what makes Rocket stuff valuable. It was junk and no one really wanted it. Now, I would love to have a set of Rocket Racing wheels that look like the Cragar SS mags. Didn't want them then but would like to have them now! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

I mentioned the Rocket stuff to my wife (who worked the parts counter as well as any man) and she reminded me of another reason we avoided the stuff like the plague....a lot of it just didn't fit. Just a nightmare for returns. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif Me? For my own stuff, I'll pass on using anything from them... Once the big WD's dropped them, they just about gave anybody a buy in at warehouse prices. I think that's the primary reason you can still find it out there brand new. Take care man... Nice job, was jefferson muddy????
|
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Good stuff Kurt!
|
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
It was pretty muddy but I have seen it worse. We have 4 spots on the east side just north of the car corral and actually doesn't get too bad but some areas just flat out suck!
They were calling for rain starting last night and then having wind gusts over 30mph so for the first time in 5years or so we left Saturday night. It turned out to be a decent day all things considered. I think weather forecasters are paid too much! |

Thanks Sam. I have a great time looking for stuff. It's hard to do when I am also trying to sell but there are 3 of us that get 4 spots. We all take turns watching the site while the others go searching for trinkets. |

Thanks guys for the nice comments on the Nova.. I will be posting some more photos of her in the day 2 mode here soon!!

<span style="font-weight: bold">Lookin fine Rich!</span>
We went to a meet at Gateway yesterday. I passed up a nice old pair of 8.50 x 14 Casler Cheater slicks, but a buddy of mine DID bring them home. And I recently picked up an L-88 Nova hood myself. Now what the heck will I do with that? |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
L88 hoods rock. I have one I plan to use at some point.

Moroso short water pump. Not sure of the time period of this one. You won't be using it during the winter though.... No heater bosses

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
No, we always ran 15X4 Cragars in the front and steels in the back with the slicks. Couldn't afford Cragars for the back AND slicks so we mounted them on the steelies and drilled for screws. Looks perfect.
|
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Either black steelies up front or I thought about leaving the white body colored XTs on the front with the dog dish caps and the slicks and black steelies out back.... What do you think about that???
Thanks Sam, I do like the Cragar look up front also that's why I initially did it.. Car is an original SS L78 code 10 white car, I agree you don't see many that color.. Thanks for the compliment... Rich |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Either way Rich, steelies or cragars look good.Had cragars all around on my 72 Nova back in the day for a few years.
