Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Kurt, what HP you running, is it highly modified or mostly stock spec. engine.
What gears. |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Mike, here's an overview of my build.
It's a fully balanced 402+.040 (410ci), M22W trans and 4.56 gears. Stock cast crank, 3/8" truck/thumb rods, custom Ross pistons, 077 aluminum heads, Comp Cams solid roller camshaft (.640/.647 lift-.236/.242 dur.), Edelbrock TM2R intake and a Holley 950hp. The motor runs on pump gas as the compression is around 10.4. The horsepower is around 450-475. I'd like to pull it this winter, freshen it up, then run it on the dyno again as Gary Soderberg, my engine builder from SRL Motorsports, has a lot more experience on it then 5 years ago.....we could really spend some time on the dyno and dial the motor in better. Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
I purchased these Ansen Ground Grabber traction bars a few months ago from a member.
I wasn't sure if I was going to use them on but today I decided to at least install them and try them out. The ride is a little more stiff but that's due to no bushings at either end. I really do like the look. I will leave them so I have full suspension while on the street and probably will at the strip too as my shocks, air bags and no-hop bars seem to work very well. Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
What do these bars accomplish? How do they work?
They look cool:-) Ryan |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Biggest impact they have is moving the instant center of the rear suspension rearward, which should make the tires hit even harder. They do look cool, but I'm guessing they will make the car more violent and tougher to launch....

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
There are bolts that screw up and down to either allow or stop any travel on the lower control arm.
This will help for better weight transfer and bite. Kurt |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
True on the bolts, but the real clincher here is how much the rear pivot has been lowered compared to the factory location on the rear axle. This is what creates the desired 'hard hitting' effect.

Dan Vasic met me at "The First 20 Years" reunion at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove Wi a couple weeks ago. Although it rained more than we wanted I had a chance to get the car out and show it for a couple hours.
My main intent was to see I'd anyone recognized the car from back in the day when Robert Chalupa raced it there quiet often in the 70's through the 80's. Dan saw a guy walking around the car and he asked him if he knew the car or if he'd seen it before. The guy said yes.....he knew a Al Sung (spelling?), pronounced "Sing", had one. Dan asked if it was a Post like mine and he said yes. My question is if anyone in the area has heard I'd Al Sung? The guy said he was from the Chicago area. Thanks in advance, Kurt |
Maybe Dan can post a couple pictures from the day, otherwise I will later today.....
|
Sure....will do when I get home tonight :D
