Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
Sorry, I don't have any pics of that world series. Never much of a camera bug. I do think I have some old pics of Dean's car somewhere. The car's in Monmouth IL. Still looks much the same, but the new owner's changed the stance, and power train. No where near as cool as it was in the day. Lotta "Grump" influence in that car.

Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
looks like he followed the 'magic circle' pattern as when these cars would rot through the quarters at the splash panel.

Now we are talkin....looks like an old B/MP car from the past.

Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
Ok Gang, here we go. I now own one of the '69 Camaro race cars pictured here recently. The car started it's racing life early (as in a brand new car driven 50 miles from Reedman Chevy to Red Bank, New Jersey and built by Bill I, Danny Jesel and the Duffy's gang) as "Paranoia", owned and driven by Bill Izykowski. Later it was renamed "Shangri La" and campaigned by Mike PaDula, Barry Curran and Bob Moon. It competed in SS/H, B/S, and SS/D. I have pictures showing the car at Maple Grove, Cecil County and The U.S. Nationals at Indy. The car is virgin original sheetmetal, perfect original interior, and is now painted Dusk Blue with a White Hockey Stick stripe. The best part.........977 original miles!!! I have the supporting documents to corroborate. This morning, I emailed Darwin Doll and Doug Boyce and they both made contact with Bill Izykowski. Later this afternoon, Bill called me and we spoke and shared what we knew about the car. He was happy to hear his old car was alive and well and said he would dig up anything he could find. I'm seeking any additional information and pictures that anyone might have and be willing to share. I've committed to attending the York Reunion with my Olds, and will do my best to somehow bring the Camaro, too. I'm unsure of long-term plans for this car, but for now the Camaro is in the back of my garage under a cover. My main focus will be racing the W-31 (just installed a completely new drivetrain) at some Nostalgia events this upcoming season. I'll try to post what pictures I received with the car, but they are old and I'm not real computer savvy. I'm VERY EXCITED to have this car and again, will welcome any and all information from the members here.

One of our local cars when I was a kid. Lived a very short distance from me and watched him all the time. A real Thunderbolt.

Someone altered the wheelbase on that T-bolt pretty radically. |
Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
Yes. It has since been restored to stock and stock wheelbase.

Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
Boy, I spent many weekends at 75-80 in my youth; I think that is where I caught the "sickness". When I started racing myself, I realized just how short the run-off was. Neat place and many find memories.

Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
I have another Jewel from 75/80 drag way. A 1969 Mach1 Drag pack that was owned by Lynn Douglas and Raced the D stock class Acapulco Blue. Got photos of the trophies and the Day Lynn Bought the car new. Funny how two Race cars from MD end up near the Va/ Nc line.
