So they really did have factory screw-in studs and pushrod guide plates! That's something I've always wondered about. I know many people don't think Camaros were even built after 1969, but I think the 1970 Z-28 is undoubtedly the best Z-28 ever built. Maybe even the best "factory-built" Camaro of the era. Those 67-69 302 CID Z's just lack the torque of that wonderful LT-1. That LT-1 was one of Zora's babies and he loved it as such. So, we have the best, original example of the best Camaro, IMHO, ever built. And it's a Rally Sport! I'm insanely jealous.

I think your videos of starting the car with door buzzer going are great!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gifIt really brings back memories of working on cars in the 70's with those irritating noise makers!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

You better believe it! A "reunion" is planned! Check out the MCACN website for a Press Release on Charley's car.

This incredible Z will be the very first car that will be scrutinized for Vintage Certification at the new show.

Chickened out on leaving the orig oil and filter on the car, drained the oil and changed the filter. Obvious from paint on edge of drain plug gasket that pan was painted with plug installed. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/390602-002.JPG

I had to register to say two things.

1st CONGRATS ON THE FANTASTIC FIND!

2nd Please tell me you used an oil that is high in zinc. Most modern oils do not have enough zinc to protect a flat tappet cam. I would hate to see a cam lobe go flat and possibly destroy that engine. This is the main reason why I joined. I am THAT concerned about that oil you used.

Patrick. I think I filled it with Mobil One and added some Marvel Mystery Oil. It will probably sit most of it's life so about the only other thing to add is something like STP that clings to the walls real well. Suggestions ?
