Officers seize $2 million in stolen classic cars, parts, authorities say

Quote:

Law officers Wednesday seized about $2 million in stolen classic cars and auto parts stashed in San Leon and Texas City, Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Ray Nolen said Friday.

Richard Thomas Finley, 48, who investigators assert operated a business named Classic American Street Rods, was charged with theft of property and held on $200,000 bond, Nolen said.

Investigators seized 24 classic vehicles and numerous vehicle parts authorities valued at $2 million, Nolen said.

“People would bring him these classic cars to have them restored,” Nolen said. “Instead of restoring the cars, he would just move them out.”

Investigators expect to recover more cars, Nolen said.

Classic American Street Rods ceased doing business in 2022, he said.

The investigation is ongoing, and once completed a list of vehicles will be made available, Nolen said.

A dolphin can easily kill a shark with its snout.

You never think of a shark being afraid of anything, but dolphins scare these usually fearsome predators because they actually use their snouts as a battering ram to kill them.

The dolphin’s snout is made of thick, solid bone, and dolphins have been known to position themselves under the shark and ram their snout into its underbelly, causing severe internal injuries.

The hippo and the dolphin may be related.

Scientists believe that dolphins and hippos evolved from the same four-footed land animal that walked the Earth some 40 million years ago. According to post-doctoral fellow Jean-Renaud Boisserie and other scholars at University of California, Berkeley, the hippopotamus was long believed to be related to the pig, but molecular evidence from fossils show otherwise.

The hippo is most closely related to cetaceans, which includes dolphins, porpoises and whales.

Green Island, Australia - Cassius, the largest crocodile living in captivity, recently turned 120 years old and he's still growing, leaving scientists stunned at his longevity!

A saltwater crocodile, Cassius stretches out to a whopping length of 17 feet and 11.75 inches, making him the largest captive crocodile in the world – and he owns a Guinness world record to prove it!

And the most surprising thing about Cassius is that he's still growing.

Graeme Webb helped capture the croc in 1984 and he determined Cassius has grown 13 inches in the last 20 years.

Unknown if it's real or just a photoshop job. Did catch my eye so I posted it.

Front tires on the Road Runner are funny too. Seems to be a diorama, and yes, it's very well done.
