It wasn't the fastest car at Le Mans. It didn't win because it raced in a special class all by itself. 24 hours . . . 2400 miles. All that went wrong with the car was the transmission failed and had to be replaced - took 90 minutes.

But it did have the distinction of being the loudest car at Le Mans and every time it went past the grandstands, the crowd went nuts.

The last time NASCAR raced at Le Mans was way back in June of 1976. Two teams were brought over. Neither did well. The Charger blew an engine early and the Torino quit during the 11th hour of racing.

They are talking about it taking months to rebuild. I-95 is the east coast's main interstate. Now traffic will have to leave I-95 and be rerouted to the next exit to be able to get back on I-95. HUGE headache.

Imagine when it goes all electric. "every time it went past the grandstands, the crowd went to sleep"

..they just don't make transmissions like they used to.

The Reason Gas Stations Charge 9/10 of a Cent

Quote:

Blame the government and the Great Depression. The Revenue Tax Act of 1932 allowed for a federal tax of $0.01 to be placed on gas prices to help offset the national debt. Because gas was priced in pennies in those days, a fraction of a cent was considered reasonable—rounding up would have meant tacking on a massive surcharge. If filling up your tank cost 10 cents, and you had to pay another full cent instead of only a fraction, well, you’d be hopping mad about it.

I have good news and bad news. The good news: Team Corvette won it's class at Le Mans for the 9th consecutive year in a row. The bad news: Team Corvette is hanging it up - will no longer race.

State passes new law that will require electric car owners to pay $200 every yea’

Quote:

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a legislative proposal into law on May 13 that will make all electric vehicle (EV) owners in the state responsible for paying a $200 annual fee, The Dallas Morning News reported.

The law, which will take effect on Sept. 1, will also require new electric vehicle (EV) owners to pay a one-time fee of $400 to register their cars in addition to the $200 yearly toll.

How Do Fighter Jets Fly Upside-Down?

Quote:

Fighter jets are known for their supersonic speeds and impeccable maneuvers. One of the key distinctions of fighter jets is their ability to achieve and sustain an inverted flight. The wings must continue to generate lift even in the upside-down position. The design of the wings is such that they are symmetric and equally rounded at the top and bottom. Symmetric wings generate an equal amount of lift in the inverted position without losing speed or altitude.

Sphere Entertainment is rolling out Sphere Studios with its newly developed ultra-high-resolution camera system aimed at lensing immersive entertainment exclusively for the MSG Sphere, which is slated to open in the fall in Las Vegas.

The massive MSG Sphere — whose construction is expected to cost $2.175 billion — features a 160,000-square-foot, 16K-by-16K wraparound LED display, custom spatial audio system and 4D capabilities enabled through haptic seats and environmental effects.

To film imagery for the immersive display venue, the studio has developed Big Sky, a custom single-lens camera system with a 316-megapixel, 3-inch x 3-inch HDR image sensor that it says can capture 18K x 18K images up to 120 frames per second. “Big Sky allows us to capture cinematic content at a level of detail never before possible, opening up extraordinary possibilities and pushing immersive imaging technology forward,” claims lead architect Deanan DaSilva in a statement.

Me too Bill. I have seen pics of it before. I am not sure if there were two silver ones, or just that one. There were only 39 total of that body style, most of which were red.

If I ever get mine done, it is going to be silver.

Chevrolet Just Killed the Corvette Racing Program

Quote:

Over the past two decades plus, factory Corvette activities have brought many victories to the automaker. It has seen its fair share of wins in both IMSA Sportscar Championship races and FIA World Endurance championships. But with the coming Z06 GT3.R in 2024, Chevrolet wants to pass the torch.

As Chevrolet would be up against private Corvette competition teams, it didn’t make sense to compete with your own customers. So the factory efforts will end. “As we moved into the GT3 platform, we wanted to be able to be more customer-based,” GM Motorsport competition engineering director Mark Stielow told Sportscar 365. “There was a lot of internal debate inside GM and us about whether we’d want our customers racing against a factory.”
