When you have a super successful product like the Mustang, you experiment with all different variations to see if you can capture more of your intended market. Out of all the "experiments" only one succeeded and went into production: the fastback. All the others didn't:

2 seater, 4 doors, wagon, 4 wheel drive and this one: retractable hard top.

I’m quite certain this ‘65 GTO belongs to a friend of mine, Paul Kilker.

As far as restorations, this one year only color Iris Mist 3x2 Convertible of Paul’s is as close to 100% correct as one can get. Gorgeous GTO.

Discussion yesterday at my friend Greg's restoration shop led to a '65 G.T. 350 that had passed between a couple mutual friends before being sold to a gentleman from France a few years ago. Is this that car?? It has the same wheels. How many GT 350's can there be in France??

Greg is very knowledgable on Shelby cars and had done detail work on it previously. When the buyer came to IA for inspection he learned that the previous owner had the original all fiberglass hood as wall art in his den. A large sum of $$ later Greg replaced the metal structured hood with the original all glass hood before it was shipped to France. - Bill W
