it stayed in the family 52 years, was restored 5 years ago, and was sold for $230k to fund the retirement of the original owner. That's pretty good use of a musclecar.

This car belongs to an acquaintance of mine down here in New Zealand.

The one in the other thread may be a 150 and this thread a 210, or embellished to go with the Cragars ? The '56 I worked on is a Bel Air and has the wide trim and rocker moldings.

In an interesting side note, the 1962 version of the Thunderbird Sports Roadster, which was the first year of this package, had offered a set of Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels to further disguise this leviathan as a sports car. These wheels were actually the most expensive option on the entire trim package, weighing in at an extra $372.30 (a commanding $3,625.81 in 2022 dollars). Despite this, the wire wheels became highly problematic and had several issues holding air, as well as supporting the massive weight of the car itself. A notable incident involved none other than Elvis Presley, who found himself driving a Sports Roadster in 1962, when one of the wheels collapsed under heavy cornering. This sole incident had consequently caused Ford engineers to re-think the entire design after the faults of Elvis' Thunderbird made national headlines, which resulted in the majority of 1963 Thunderbirds to be sold with steel wheels.

Mitch, aren't all the 55 Nomads part of the Bel Air group?

The one I linked to is a Nomad, so can't be a 150 or a 210.

Unless they emblems have been deleted, I think they all have "Bel Air" script on the rear quarter close to the tail lights.

Trim tag designation indicates: 1064 = Bel Air Nomad 2-Door Wagon. Some have the extra chrome and some don't. Personally, I like it without.

Could be, Lynn, I'm not an expert either, just speculating from what I've seen. In your pic, I know the front bumper wings were an option and maybe the rock guards ? Was the rocker trim an option too, or, as I mentioned, added by an owner for appearance ? Maybe it came from a hardtop ? It certainly doesn't fit well with the rock guard, as it seems to overlap and stick out.
Looking at many pics of both '55 and '56 Nomads on the www, there seem to be many with and without rocker trim so who knows what is original ?

Those were options on any 55, regardless of body style or trim level. Not sure if they were dealer installed only, or if you could also get them from the factory.
