Dropping the body in ‘66
|
Looks like a hand held alignment rod, never seen that before in any other assembly line photos. Love the upside-down C in Pontiac.
|
Correct - it's a "drift pin".
Now that you've noticed it you'll see it in other vintage photos too. K |
Cool.
Yep, probably just missed it before. Thanks, Keith! |
The 1966 GTO was the only year both Manual and Automatic transmissions came with the resonators.
Cordova top and Rally I wheels. |
Love these assembly line pics - thank you for sharing!

Red lines with Deluxe wheel disc. Custom Sports steering wheel (wood wheel). Inside day / night mirror. Outside rear view mirror. Power antenna. Exhaust splitters. Is this Black or Dark Blue interior and what color is the outside, Black or Blue? Also looks like a type of headrest?? Thank you for sharing! |

Tom,
Do you recall a possible Bobcat (Royal Racing Team) decal on the RR glass? |
This pic is pulled off the internet Chris. Wish I knew more about it:)

It looks to me that the young man is actually sitting in the front, perhaps a non-console car? And there is what looks like matching headrests on each front seat.

It’s obvious there are two round type headrest.
One on RH side behind the ladies head and another on the drivers seat. There were a wide variety of over the counter headrest in the 60’s era. The girl is either sitting between the buckets or on the console and the boy in the back seat. |

“Here’s That Tiger”-love the stance.

Just got this reply from the gentleman that posted the photo of the '65 GTO towing the VW.
"My dad installed the headrests. No Console, just the Hurst Shifter with the white ball on top. 4 on the floor." |

First a neat advertisement.
Second a vintage ‘65 hardtop that looks to be Mayfair Maize, or possibly Mission Beige? Black Cordova top. Radio. Inside day/night mirror. Outside rear view mirror. Custom wheel disc. Red line on the back, whitewall on the front. |

That’s crazy in this photo are three different year Tempest Series cars.
The ‘67 does not have a rear plate. |
Might be a brand new '67 there. Also appears to be a dealer nameplate in the center of the tail panel.

I saw that photo the other day along with these others of the same car. Looked like a possible pinstripe delete car, but tough to tell. Note the Red assembly line fuel filter with original clamp in place.
|
Hey G,
I saw those additional photos too. Early ‘67 fuel lines on this 335 HP car with power steering. I suppose this guy can manage driving with one arm since the column automatic and PS would benefit him. |
Ha!... good point, Chris!

I remember those well, we had one.

I remember as a kid in the 50’s my Mom had a yellow one in the kitchen. Like everything else from that era, it was built to last. |

I see he has a second wood Jack stand at the ready. K |
