Congratulations and well done!
|
Wow, it's hard enough to trace down one problem, but when you have that many things going on at the same time I can see why you would consider just selling it and save your sanity.
|
Sweet Super Dave! Congrats! Great Persistence! :3gears:
Noticed you weren’t to careful opening the door next to the upright of your lift.....enjoy these days!!! |
What a nightmare. My 300G has a dual point, if it ever runs again, and I do have a petronix set up for it. Sounds like a good idea now
|
Well done Dave! Thanks again for taking us along for the ride and congrats on conquering the beast!

I am a big fan of the Mopar Performance electronic ignition conversion package. Includes distributor, wiring and the ECM box. I would always make an extension for the three wire harness and hide the box in a front bumper bracket and no one was ever the wiser. My biggest pet peeve is when people bolt that damn box right to the firewall in plain view. Ugh.

Test drive up to 45 mph today around the neighborhood and it drove nice!:burnout: Love seeing that Shaker hood do its thing like a pair of lost puppies in a tight sweater!:headbang:
More time behind the wheel this week, then it’s off to Steve’s house!:eek2: Cheers:beers: Dave |
Oh my! :eek2: Gonna have to change my avatar now!

I’m kidding, I’m kidding.....at least not right now! But negotiations are on going, forthcoming, and proceeding at a rapid-fire rate!:rolleyes2:
Almost time for a burnout!:3gears: Cheers:beers: Dave |

Jeezze, Darrell....where do you find this stuff! It’s like the winged, Sure-Gripped, non-primered version of Crusty! :3gears:
Cheers Dave |

I've had this lonely, vintage 1972 tachometer for decades, just waiting for a car to attach it to...such a sad little tach looking for a forever home. Won't you help?
Now, all we need is Sally Struthers to narrate the commercial appeal. |

Seeing this car become roadworthy, makes me regret selling my 1970 340 ‘cuda project that still wore its factory Limelight Green paint.
Can’t keep ‘em all, eh :-( Living vicariously through you Dave! |
Hahaha! Oh man, that’s a chuckle! Good one, Steve!
No, you can’t keep them all, that’s the truth. Sometimes for a car to get the respect it needs a tag-team effort is needed. We’re all caretakers of these gemstones and each of us does a little to help it along. Fortunately for me, my Automotive Determination Disorder makes me want to fix everything and anything and therefore, when one sells another is either on going to ease the pain or another shows up!:headbang: Cheers:beers: Dave |
Attention all Users: This is a public service announcement. The following is a paid non-political statement regarding a transfer of ownership, right here on Yenko.net.
“Let the wurd go fourath from this day forwerd, that the tourch has been pahsst to a new generashun of Yenkonians. Ahhsk not, what this Cuda can do for you. Ahhsk what NJSteve, can do for this Cuda.” Steve has taken a page from the Book of Dave. Nag until the other party can’t stand it and caves in to your wishes! It worked for me getting the Beater Bee, the Crusty Cuda, and even Kelly the Wife!:D But fear not! The next stage of this legacy thread has now taken the next step towards the ultimate MCACN display next year; Paint!!!!!!:headbang: In the coming hours and weeks I will be updating the thread showing Crusty getting ready for paint, in paint, and then leaving painted to be finished by Steve in New Jersey. It was a hard decision to make. Actually, you’s guys know me, so no it wasn’t.:dunno: Because when one door closes, another opens. Each cloud has a silver lining. When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade. It’s always darkest before the dawn. Anything bigger than a mouthful is wasteful:scholar: And other inspiring quotes that may fit in here! So stay tuned as there’s more to come. As fast as it came together it’ll come back apart. At least now we all know it runs!!!!:burnout: Cheers:beers: Dave |

Just kidding. Can't wait to see what Steve has in store for it AND I can't wait to see what's next for you. *cough*Judge*cough*

So what are you going to bring to SCR? A rental car?

We are just crossing the streams.
I thought you said that was a bad thing, Egon? |

Just getting back to my roots since I started with a slew of shakered 'Cudas 40 years ago. Funny thing is, now all those parts are reproduced better than original and readily available. Whodathunk that quarter panels, fenders, elastomeric bumpers, full grill sets and interior panels in multiple colors would be available just a "pay now" click away.
Here's a selection of some of my old projects in "before" shape: a 383 auto ragtop (free from a junkyard in Denver), a 440+6 four speed ragtop (hauled up from Miami), and a hemi auto ragtop (drug out of a blizzard in Wisconsin). As funny as it seems, I have never had a small block Mopar musclecar before (other than my Gramma's green '71 318 Satellite Sebring but that doesn't count). This should get interesting. Team Jersey Boys, begins today. |

and after...
|
Good point, Freddie. But there’s always next year! It’s an event I really want to do. And I broke the news to Bob about not bringing it to MCACN this year and although he was massively disappointed, he did ask me at the end of the conversation, “Who am I speaking with again?”:hmmm:
Man those are cool photos, Steve. And yeah, this was my first small block Mopar too. I had always heard of these but never knew they really existed. I thought all they built were big blocks! Updates this weekend! The car should be on the rotisseire! Cheers:beers: Dave |
Oh well. You can still come and watch, and let that sick feeling overtake you knowing that you could have been out there smoking tires, shifting gears and exploding clutches with the rest of us. And being the super Dave that you are, you still have time to get something else ready to run.
|
Dave, don't you have another 'Cuda in one of your many warehouses out there at Area 51? A 440 6bbl? Consider the Grape Escape to be a practice run for your 440+6 Cuda.

I've been following along for a while and I love the crusty 'cuda. It reminds me of a cross between my two cars... a beater class '68 H/O and a relatively presentable 'cuda.
I was heading down a path to restore the H/O, but I've been having so much fun driving it that I'm not motivated to restore it yet. Maybe MCACN needs a display for cars that started as barn finds but quit rehab halfway through :D Either way, the 'cuda is going to look sharp restored. Gotta love an In Violet, shaker, 4 speed car... looking forward to both of your restoration work! Luke |

Nice H/O!!! Love these “crusty” rides.

Ok, those are both bad-mammajammas! one last drive around the Ranch before the teardown for paint begins tomorrow. Of course I had to test out the traction of the F70s just because. Kelly was ready with the bags so everything will be labeled for Steve for reassembly. Eeeeevvvryyyy nut, bolt, screw will be inventoried. All bags labeled "Cuda" BWAHAHAHAHA.. cough..... cough....oh, sorry. Don't know what came over me....:eek2::no::biggthumpup:
Cheers:beers: Dave |
Pretty good marks for single-legger 3.23!
Darn kids! Now get off my lawn and git back to the garage! |
Dave, if you don't, you should start a YouTube Channel. I think you could get a ton of subscribers who would help finance your addiction...err....hobby, seriously.
|
Hmmm, ya know, Mark? That’s a good idea. I do have a channel but have been keeping all the videos private since they are of my parents house being built and not anything of interest to anyone but them. I should do some for the Cuda and 507 for sure!
Problem is I’m not overly video-tech-editing savvy. Would love to take several then crop them together but that’s way above my paygrade. Does YouTube help with that and what’s best to use? My phone? Buy a GoPro?:hmmm: Cheers:beers: Dave |

Depending on your computer and how old it is...Windows Movie Maker can help out out...it's easy to use and it's free. Newer computers don't have it...older ones do :) Call me if you need any help. It's what I use for these: |

Here's a community project for anyone with a decent memory for Chrysler dealers. This is the original dealer sticker on the back of the Cuda, at the bottom. (There is a second sticker that is legible but that was a used car lot in Rhode Island)
The decal appears to have a faint glue residue image of four letters which I think may be "ERIE". When I google ERIE Chrysler Plymouth I get a result of a dealer with that name located on 704 East Perkins Avenue in Sandusky, Ohio from the early 1960's through at least the late 1970s when it was sold to another owner. From a newspaper ad it looks like they were something of a performance dealer since they had Walt Arfon's Green Monster on display on June 22, 1966. Anyone recall this dealer or any other Erie Chrysler Plymouths out there? |

Here's a couple ads from the Sandusky Register. Unfortunately the newspaper archives on the interwebs require an expensive subscription to view the actual page any larger than a thumbnail size.
The dealership name logo in the ads looks similar to my hallucination of what I think is on the decal residue. |
Teardown for paint??? I must have missed that detail somewhere along the way.
I like the Crusty ‘cuda just the way it is, but you haven’t disappointed me yet. Do what ya gotta do... |

Oh, don't you worry. I've disappointed plenty. Just hang with me a bit more and I'm sure it'll happen.... But yes, paint is fast approaching!
I started the teardown and started labeling bags for Steve when the time comes to put it back together:scholar: Cheers Dave |
Hey, I'll have you know there's washers in that bag too! Whatever you are paying her, cut it in half.
