Hey Joe,

We had a fantastic time, everyone was first class, and very helpful with our cars! I would like to thank everyone as well, what a great town, and a great facility! We will be back .............. and yes Joe we will be bringing a Day 2 S/C Rambler and shooting for low 10's By the way, simply amazing what you did with our little Deuce project ..... to jump in the car Cold Turkey and hit a reaction time like that and the second best time we ran all day in the car was simply brilliant!

Looking forward to catching up with you all at the Muscle Car Nationals

Re: SCR18

Thanks for posting the picture of the Mustang Doug. It felt a little out of place with all the Chevrolets around but you guys certainly made me feel welcome. Eight passes between 11.08 and 11.18 made me very happy for the day. That's almost two tenths under the NHRA index for B/SA. Hubert would have been proud had he been there. Next year I think we need to do a bracket race in the afternoon for bragging rights.Maybe the winner gets prime parking inside the show area. By the way, you better get the green monster tuned up as I plan to be running 10.80s.

Not having been a member of this group for very long, this was my first SCR. Wow, did I have a god time. Everyone was so friendly, and so willing to give of their time to talk to me. So much history and they were all willing to share it. Just loved getting to see some of the cars I so lusted after when I was young. It was exciting that the cars didn't just sit there in the grass, but were launching wheels up down the quarter mile. I was blown away. I won't miss the next one.

I will try and post some pics and videos when I can.

This shot reminds me of Kenny McLellan's SS/G "Cobrastang" out of west Texas. With 428 power that car was a awesome to watch in the early to mid 70's. TAZ

I probably put to much pressure on you doug, as I remember you saying you didnt want to put in a cage.Get it consistent and we will see how it shakes out. Your car is to nice to cut it up just to pick up a couple of tenths.

Re: SCR18

I would like to offer my services up to Tom, Doug, and Jamie.

My brother and I have a competition BBQ team that we started last year. We have competed in a few competitions and had several catering gigs. This would include a party at Mr. Perry's house in July for the Good guys show in Columbus. I believe everyone enjoyed the food.

We would like to offer to provide a BBQ dinner prepared competition style the night of the meet n greet for next year’s SCR. I'm sure this would have to be approved by the hotel but we are interested if it's a possibility. We finished 15th in chicken out of 38 teams back in the Spring. As they say in the south.. "it's good enough to make you smack your mama!"

If this sounds like something that you would like to entertain, I can start working on a menu.

Thanks,

Jason

Re: SCR18

If we had in a bracket race, dial-ins instead of heads up, that would allow some friendly competition with out the need to try and keep getting quicker.

Re: SCR18

I can confirm ...Jason's BBQ is very tasty ....he is being modest ...his uncle started one of Ohio's largest BBQ chains. I have been apart of 3 of his delicious outings. He takes pride in his MEAT.

COPO CARTEL 08-27-2015 01:12 AM

Re: SCR18

Andy ...Dave and I are brainstorming as of this afternoon....yes I won't cage a cool Copo....but some subtle changes are coming ....we have 3-4 more outings before the snow flies....so we are targeting a 10.90's pass . The track may shut us down without a cage. With the MPH and picking up 25-27 mph on the big end is huge....we think if I hit my shift points and launch with 20-21 PSI .... Very possible. We will keep you posted. Also going back to the 4.10 rear...shift light is coming on hard with 200' left at the big end. We love chasing this cars potential and I love cutting a good bulb.

61 vert 08-27-2015 02:17 AM

Re: SCR18

Consistency is key, although I still a want to get at least 5/10s under the index incase I go nhra stock elim. racing. Should have 2 cars to race next year. May need to hire a driver. Any volunteers to wheel a ford?

61 vert 08-27-2015 02:23 AM

Re: SCR18

what are you going thru the lights at? I'm just hittin 7000 rpm at the finish.rear end is a 4.71.my mile per hour is slower than yours as I have less horsepower. Would like to get the power up a little more and go through the lights closer to 7800. That would bring my mile per hour up to around 134 or so.that will probably take another 50 horse and I'm not sure I can squeeze that out of stock cast iron heads and cast iron intake without spending big bucks.

COPO CARTEL 08-27-2015 11:14 AM

Re: SCR18

Andy ...that is one of our changes that we discussed...we have 4.56 rear gear ...and we shift at 6,000 but my shift light is coming on with about 250' of track left So we are putting a 4.10 gear in it. The motor puts out 610 HP peaked at 6,300...then it falls off....that was 16 passes on the dyno ...so we know at 6,300 we are peaked out

Salvatore 08-27-2015 12:00 PM

Re: SCR18

Seems a little low in the shift points Doug. Will a 4.10 get you out of the gate like you want?

VintageMusclecar 08-27-2015 12:36 PM

Re: SCR18

Doug;

Does it basically level off after peak or really nose over?

sYc 08-27-2015 03:09 PM

Re: SCR18

Man I love reading this stuff. Until his untimely death, COPOPETE and Rob spent countless hours discussing the same things.

Would be cool if we could get together to race/hangout, maybe once a month, with the final one at the SCR.

COPO CARTEL 08-27-2015 03:22 PM

Re: SCR18

Sammy...earlier this year we had a 4.10 gear and the car would not get out of the gate ...but since then we have made a few changes and added air pressure to 20# ....Eric once it peaks at 6,300 RPM...and I have approx 250' left to run out ...I am on cruise control with no more power....it levels off ...and then I turn on the radio ( CCR) lol. It does not nose over. Tom ...that's a great idea ...I could swing every 2 months possibly. I really enjoy the feedback and info

COPO CARTEL 08-27-2015 03:27 PM

Re: SCR18

When we dynoed the motor ...its peak is 6,300....my 6,000 shift point reasoning is ....once I see the shift light and by the time I shift its at 6,300
