Anyone have anything on The Central Motor Co of Hamilton, Ohio 45010, just outside of Cincinnati? They had at least one COPO 9561.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services

Great memory Chuck, I think being the original owner is as good as the build sheet. It would be nice to be able get that info though for the Chevy's.
My letter read 4/15/68 build date. I looked it up and it was on a monday, I had to laugh. Tax day too. I noticed my trim tag reads 2nd week of April, the car was built on the 1st day of the 3rd week so pretty tight from tag to assembly.

Got my report back from NCRS. I thought my car came from Milwaukee Wisconsin, boy was I off ! The report says the dealership it was delivered to was C. Bell Chevorlet Co., they were located on Sheldon Ave. Grand Rapids, Mi. Dealer code 22, Zone 45. If you guys ever heard of this place or know if it's still in business please let me know. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Nice to see the Yenko cars show up on these shipping records, many do not appear on the NICB records. Has anyone seen an NICB showing Yenko for any of the Copo cars?

Happy to get my reports last week:

1969 Z28 L526897 Frontier Chevrolet, Fresno California
1969 Z28 N685441 Gillespie-Durden Chevrolet, Inc. Prattville, AL
1969 Copo N625854 Prout Chevrolet

Thanks Roy for all your work!

C Bell was around through the 1970s, not sure what happened to them. I believe I have a decal from the dealer.

Found an old ad for C. Bell Chevorlet Co. from a high school yearbook, it even had a phone number. Tried the phone number, no good.

The building still stands and is currently Kenny's Transmission of Greenwood.

Oh, and the Chevelle's production date was July 31, 1969.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services

Just got my paperwork yesterday for my 1969 L78 Nova.

Car is an 06A build date and was GM official production date is 6/10/69. Original delivery dealer was Dealer Code 447 in Zone 44 which lists name and location of dealer as:

Les Stanford Chevrolet
Dearborn, MI

We knew the car came out of Michigan and was drag raced early in its life at Milan Dragway. Does anyone remember either my Dover White '69 Nova or Les Stanford Chevrolet?

Thanks,

Paul

SeattleCarGuy 05-20-2014 03:45 PM

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services

Just Googled and found that Les Stanford Chevrolet is still going strong as a Chevy & Cadillac dealer. I emailed them through their website requesting whether they had any original paperwork in their archives that they could provide to me.

Any other suggestions on how to best find documentation on my Nova?

I have two buildsheets already, but I would love to have some original dealer paperwork such as sales order form, etc.

I guess I am encouraged that the dealer is still around.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services

Regarding Les Stanford Chevrolet. I picked this 1969 Nova up a few years ago from this site. It was sold from Les Stanford Chevrolet and I just sent out for the NCRS documents to confirm it. It has been a race car since the 70s and still looks the exact same today. I put in a link below to what it looked like back in the day. I'm not sure what drag strip it was.

I owned a Fathom Blue LS6 Chevelle years ago that was sold at Les Stanford. I called but didn't get any where. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. Bench seat,M40, Blue cloth interior, 4.10's. No gauges, No Cowl Ind, No Stripes. Just a plain wrapper. Oh, It did have a trailer hitch... Troy

Just got my three in the mail yesterday. I knew where my 67 and 69 came from, no surprise there. My 70Z project came with a CE block and a replacement POP from Theigs-Essler motors. The NCRS paperwork shows Arnold Chevrolet in Watkins Minnesota. A google search shows it is still in business today! What are the odds that they have any old docs? Does anyone here have any info on Arnold Chevrolet? Thanks Roy for giving us some detective work to do!
