Very nice Rick!! Coming along perfect. What quarters did you use on this car. Now how about this other ss post you have/going to get.

Re: Black L78 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan Found

Thanks guys,
Yes, Eric does know his stuff, and with his connections we were able to get this spot welder.
We used panel bond between all areas that mate together.
The quarters are GM NOS from early stampings. Only thing is they were originally stamped with no side-marker light openings, so we will cut those in later.
We also decided to cut off the door jamb section for a couple reasons. 1) it allows us to form the door edge gap better, and 2) these quarters have the vent hole cut out in the jamb that we'd have to close off anyway.

Is the Passenger Quarter going on today?

I looked at a car recently (not sharing) and it was all self tapping screws, so the spot welder is not the only option:-))

Pins and needles Rick!!

I am amazed how well it looks like this car is coming along thumbs up to Rick for staying away from the sheet metal screws lol. My first choice as Rick did was to use a donor car for as much of the sheet metal as he could! Then going to the next step and using NOS sheet metal as the second option. Fantastic job Sir and as I stated before I look for new pics daily on the progress of this badazz post car!

Thanks Kurt.

A little more progress to show now.
We found while aligning the passenger side quarter that the trunk lid I thought was good, had been tweaked from a small hit, enough that it just didn't make sense to the rest of the pieces that lined up nicely.
Finally after trying 3 trunk lids, we found one that wasn't hit, and we were able to get things in their proper place without a battle.

Really starting to look like a car again, except for the multi-colored paint scheme.

Not much to take pictures of as we spent some time stripping some paint, getting some parts over at Hanke's shop removed and starting on the cowl area.
Eric finished the weld-up of the front of both quarters, and we did find some interesting paperwork.

Hey Dan, getting you to look at it again.
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-dscf7351.jpg

The gold trunk lid ended up having a few small pinholes on the edge, so time to burn Dan's eyes again.
