Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
Here are some pics from last Friday....Driver side quarter was just about finished.....George had to stop on the car for a week to get some collision work done.......
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04946.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04947.jpg I also got my NJSteve derusting station in operation.....lets see how it works out.....hope the results are as good as Steve got....Time will tell http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04954.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04955.jpg |

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
Well...........My NJSteve derusting station ended up showing my inexperience as an amateur trying to go where the "Experts" are..........two things happened.......first the process wasn't showing any results (after talking to the "Master" at MCACN it seems I didn't have a heater in my solution and as it was in the 50's in the garage, the cool solution was the problem) so....that was problem #1.......so when we got home from MCACN I was going to get a heater.........Problem # 2.........while at MCACN I left the pump running and spraying the rear axle housing......it seems that something shifted and the spray nozzle ended up spraying 5 gallons of solution all over the garage floor.....So....that saved me the effort of going out and buying a heater........Darn!!!
So.......I did the next best thing and got out the Makita grinder with a wire wheel ( what I should have done in the first place) and spent a half hour getting it cleaned up and ready for assy with all the new parts.....got a new Posi unit and a 3.55 ring and pinion.......gonna drop it off tomorrow and get it set up ......gotta stay away from that High Tech derusting stuff and stay within my abilities......... Now.....While at MCACN we were walking around and found something that I didn't want........But ......I "Needed" for the "Mint" Nu Yawk Survivor Car.....As I was looking at the Rosewood wheel with the Impala Hub Assy, the Princess asked how much it was.....When I told her she said forget about it........But.....as soon as I started crying she gave in and bought it for me.........LOL.....Do I have her trained or what..... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05209.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05210.jpg Also.....after a week of working on collision jobs....George was back on the Impala.......got the quarters done and he was putting some minor sheet metal repairs in the drivers side wheel house........ http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05212.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05214.jpg |

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
----Im with you there, Ken! Just lately I have come to the conclusion that Im not as drawn to all the big wheel/skinny tire combos as I thought. Give me some old 14/15 inch wheels and a set of bigs and littles on most cars. Looks meaner to me, I guess.....Bill S

In case you don't understand, think of the problem njsteve had trying to get his Charger to drive over a 2x6 with old hard tires. Rubber band tires on huge rims are about as efficient. |

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
Stopped at Puleras today to see what George had accomplished in the last couple of days......well....the used fender I bought and thought was in pretty good shape was just a starting point for George.....he spent the day today hand working the sheet metal to get it close to where it met his standards.....He's gonna get the loose pieces ready to be fit on the car......the schedule for now is to have the car in paint before the end of the year.....(4 weeks)

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
Stopped at Puleras today.....George had the front fenders out in the paint area for final priming and blocking.....the drivers door is ready also.......so....he has the Deck lid, passenger door, and Hood to finish up.....Looks like he's ahead of schedule......I have the Fuel Tank/GTO Pump assy just about finished (Pic's in a day or two) and I'm working my way thru the pile of parts in the basement......

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
"Body Shop" and "ahead of schedule" have never been used in the same sentance regarding discussions of cars I have heard about over the years.
"under budget".... will be next,Ken you are charmed! I always thought the lines of the 65-67 Chev were quite radical compared to the 61-64,but when you have the pieces laid out like that it has a hice simple flow...looking good! Paul |

Stopped at Pulera's again today.....the front fenders and drivers door are primed and ready for final blocking prior to paint.......
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05246.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05247.jpg George has the deck lid finished and ready for primer and he was finishing up the Passenger door ...... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05249.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05248.jpg That just leaves the hood as the last piece for George to deal with......Getting close to Paint....... |

Those Tips are now the "Hallmark" feature of a piece of NU YAWK Automotive "History".......Long "I" Land style......I just might keep them for their "Sty-Lin" value...In case I bump into some Nu Yawkers on the Power Tour we can do some "Bonding"........LOL....Maybe the Mirror and Fuzzy Dice??? |
