Re: The new flying dutchman!
Benny is going fast enough. His car runs a safe 10.50's which is a good thing. Low costs and low maintenance is the key. Your dialed right in the Professor! Don't listen to that cheesehead! HA!

Re: The new flying dutchman!

Re: The new flying dutchman!
I;m going to try something new this season. I;m going with caltrax traction bars and split mono-leafs. From reports I heard that combo really works. I can;t complain, about my 60-foot times. My best last season was a 1.49,I usually run in the mid 1.50S. Any comments, please let me know! The Dutchman

I think Benny is going to go to a Jerico for next year, I heard he bought a practice tree just to get the clutch and leave time down. I also think he is hoping to get the Kwhizzenator to sponsor him! Re: The new flying dutchman!
My advice here is pretty simple . . . . just keep doing what you're doing and having fun without spending a TON of money. Please try to remember this when you start thinking about dropping some serious dough on a 540/572 big-inch Motor and/or major chassis modifications. It's all about going as fast as possible for the least amount of money and you'll reach the point where additional performance gains start becoming VERY EXPENSIVE. It's a VERY common story where guys have a car like yours and spend a shit-load of money to only go just a little bit faster. Then you'll look back and wish you had bought a Harley or Bass Boat for the cash you spent to go just a half-second faster. Besides, I and many others have always been more impressed by guys going fast and doing the mostest(!) with the leastest(!).

Re: The new flying dutchman!
Right on again Mark!!

Re: The new flying dutchman!
Right on again Mark![not to hurt Mark!]. I found that driver era is the bigest problem and it is a very common story. To spend no money and try to fixed that is hard. I am impressed with bbbenny did and the keenest highly developed after it. *Paul.

Ain't that the truth? Cool true story: Way back when...when I actually knew something, I ran into an old acquaintance at the track. He was pretty bummed out. His high dollar (then) W2 340 Mopar was a slug. Then in passing (I was just cruising on by), he asked me what I thought of the plugs...Yikes. Silver "piston pieces" imprinted everywhere. I asked him what the jetting was in the Holley. He told me the exact jetting was recommended by a well-known (So Cal) Mopar Guru. Never mind we were a couple of thousand miles away...and with a huge difference in both altitude and humidity....L-O-L. Right about then I suggested he fatten it up as far as he could go with the jets he had on hand. Believe it or not, the A-body picked up six (yes, Six) tenths. And he still needed more jet. Bottom line here was the 340 was so lean, it was eating itself up. I think it was the cheapest six tenths on record. Ever...L-O-L. Truth is, I think it's more fun to find performance in an "underdog" with tuning and little stuff than it is to throw $$$ at it. Anyway, great post Mark. Wayne |
Re: The new flying dutchman!
You guys are correct about fun racing. If your not beening sponsored, by some one. You are supposed to have fun at this hobby. I don;t want to be working on the car, between rounds. Thats for the guys that do this for a living. So I;m happy with the car. And I like sharing my drag racing experiences, with everyone here on the site. My car is old school setup,no electronics. Footbrake it, I like to race my car. Not let the electronics, do the work. JMO. Thanks for the support. The Dutchman.

Re: The new flying dutchman!
Benny does this for a hobby. Win,lose or draw he does it for fun so I don't believe practicing is in his vocabulary. Besides, his new video camera was probably not ready yet. Good luck Professor!
