Re: RogerD's 1969 Dick Harrell Chevelle
Good morning Gang:
Nothing new in pictures - hopeful I'm not boring anyone with my ramblings . . . We are running out of 2010 and will celebrate the new year in just a few days. Can't tell you how much more meaningful our project has been in being able to share with all of you and for your encouragement along the way!! Here's where we are today: .....Frame, body and paint work are 100% complete .....Engine, transmission and rear end are 100% complete .....Interior, all detail work is yet to be done (wiring, upholstery, headliner, glass install, door panels, etc) .....Under the hood, lots of work yet to be done (wiring, radiator install, hoses, ws wiper motor, regulators, brake booster & lines to valve, etc) .....Exterior trim, mostly complete but some to be done (stainless ws trim, sidemarkers, mirror, glass trim, etc) .....Exterior mechanical, mostly complete but a few remaining (front sway bar, drive shaft, bleed and set up the brakes, install gas tank & hook up) I am capable, qualified and will most likely do most of this stuff except for setting the glass. Planned originally to complete all of this stuff while the car was in Missouri but, I'm looking forward to the hands on time detailing it out. I will be pleased to provide updates and of course pictures, as soon as I have news to report . . . Have a safe and Happy New year :) |

"Have a safe and Happy New Year!!"
Right back at you Roger. We'll be sitting here patiently waiting for your next updates. And NO, we're not bored with your 'ramblings'. PLEASE keep us informed. For now, enjoy the Holiday. |

Progress is slow right now. Detail work - searching for a few small (hard to find) trim parts that must be replaced . . . Hopeful we can successfully navigate a couple of hurdles in the next few weeks and then start on the major detail stuff. |

When I bought the car back, a 10 bolt open rear end was installed and a 1970 12 bolt posi (wrong PN, wrong cast date) was included with the car (loose).
I Tracked down a cast date correct, PN correct 12 bolt and traded the '70 12 bolt for it. It now has a correct Eaton Series 4 Posi w/correct 4.10 gears. Neighbors, Steve Venable and Keith Chandler had parts (date correct 840 heads and a series 4 Eaton posi) and helping locate parts. They have been with me all the way on my adventure along with several other neighbors who have similar interests. In fact, my first project part came from another next door neighbor, Gary Garrett who shares a back fence. He brought over a set of NOS stainless steel seat belt holders he had on hand. Gary also took the picture of my wife and I next to the car the day we brought it home - Keith and Steve were over that day as well. Keith and Steve are both into muscle cars and Corvettes - good friends, always ready to help and close by . . . |

Gary and his son are also into muscle cars - having done several projects over the years.
One of their projects has been featured in a couple of magazines - a killer resto-mod on a Chevy PU. . . Gary introduced me to A.C.E.S and in fact, his efforts resulted in a visit to my home by none other than . . . Chuck Hanson (A.C.E.S. Prez) to see the car and look over my documents in Sept 2009, just a few weeks after I brought it back home :) Chuck did a short article in Chevelle World, March 2010  |

HELP - RogerD's 69 Dick Harrell Chevelle
Good morning Gang:
I've hit a snag . . . Need your help to locate a 1969 Chevelle Coupe rear seat (back and seat cushions) Metal must be in VG condition - don't care about the covers. Please PM me if you have one or know of one I can buy!! Thanks :) |
Re: HELP - RogerD's 69 Dick Harrell Chevelle
As long as you don't care about the seat covers, any 1968-72 GM A-body backseat will fit..Chevelle-Monte Carlo-Skylark-Cutlass-Lemans.
Here's one on the bay.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-1971...sQ5fAccessories |
Re: HELP - RogerD's 69 Dick Harrell Chevelle
Actually that seat will not fit as the 70-72 models have the armrests that go to the floor so the seats are narrower. He needs one from any 68-69 A-body except Grand Prix's, 4-doors, and convertibles.
|
Re: HELP - RogerD's 69 Dick Harrell Chevelle
The rear seat back and lower I have (been told it's 70 ~72 A body) is too narrow.
Measures about 56" across the lower edge at the front. The rear seat out of my 69 donor car (it's rotted out and not good enough to fix) measures right at 60" across that same point. Thanks :) |
Re: HELP - RogerD's 69 Dick Harrell Chevelle
I know, but didn't know how particular you wanted to be.
A 1970-72 rear seat will fit into a 68-69 with a lil wiggle room, but a 68-69 rear seat is too tight for 70-72. You could post a wanted ad in the wanted section for quicker results. |
Re: HELP - RogerD's 69 Dick Harrell Chevelle
Roger, I have a rear seat from a 1968 442, out of a CA car. Light surface rust on the frame. PM me if you're interested. Located in Phoenix.

Re: RogerD's 1969 Dick Harrell Chevelle

A familiar 'Option' via DH shop visible on the steering column . . .
A little tweaking on the exhaust tips to get them 'just right' . . . |

Re: RogerD's 1969 Dick Harrell Chevelle
Can you tell us what the significance of the license plates is?
Jason |
Re: RogerD's 1969 Dick Harrell Chevelle
Not significant at all . . .
Will soon be replaced with a circa '69 Missouri license plate :) |
