I'm in the same boat as you Charley. My car was originally stripe delete. I'm second owner and car retains its original paint. I've thought about it numerous times to remove the stripes but don't want to get into the original paint. It's a tough call to make.

Lot 1300.1 Blue LS6 just went for 286K with the juice. Time to send the black one to auction Charlie.

Stripes and all.

I would leave well enough alone . Especially if original paint under it . I don't think that holds
it back and its not like the car couldn't have them . KP

Personally I agree with leaving it and letting the next owner decide what they want done....it is all original and whatever the Dealership did back in the day is part of the pedigree....if you had documentation for this, that would be even better!

Anyone looking to buy a car like this would be a fool to scoff at the stripes....it is what it is!

Unless I’m mistaken, it was a previous owner “dealer” that added the stripes, long after the car was deemed basically a Time Capsule car.

I think 75% of the buyers will not know that a Chevelle SS could be ordered stripes delete.
I don't think I have ever heard someone say I wish it had no stripes.

Stripes were not standard on the standard SS domed hood, which this car is. They were standard on a cowl induction hood, which then could be deleted.

Just a friendly FYI clearing this up.

Knowing the stripes were added and after seeing the car in person, I thought it looked great as is. I wouldn't mess with it, it's all part of the car's history.

Always heard that you can't unring a bell. But apparently you can. I would say that since the stripes aren't original they need to go away. It's not like you're really changing anything, the paint isn't original anymore because some dipshit decided to mess it up.
