My 69 Dart Swinger 340, purchased in December 1970 from the local VW dealership (dealership owner lived across the street from my mom ) for $1700. 4 speed, R4 red with black vinyl top and stripe delete. This is the only actual photograph I have left of it, a blurry Polaroid. My friends' 69 Super Bee is in the background.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ps129e2619.jpg The much better, clearer Polaroid I had of it, I gave to a friend of mine who wrote a column for the local paper in the 1980's so that he could use it. I never got the Polaroid back , but here's the picture as it appeared in the paper with his captioning (slightly exaggerated, I might add) http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ps5b09b783.jpg |
Re: Vintage pics of muscle cars-post yours up here!!
In June of 72 I traded the Swinger to a friend for a 68 Olds 442. Kept that all of 3 weeks and sold it to another friend because I found what I really wanted - Cortez silver 70 Z28, 4 speed.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ps8d8784b5.jpg In September 72, my girlfriend (now wife of 40 years) and I both had some vacation time to use up, so we loaded up the 70 Z and headed to South Carolina to visit my friend (and his wife) who was stationed there in the Army. Here are a couple pics of us in SC with the car...back in the days when I had a little more hair.... http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...psc336c625.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...psd5111d83.jpg |

Kept the 70 Z28 until 3/14/73, when I traded it in on a new 73 Z28 at Fencl-Tufo Chevy in Glendale Heights IL.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...73Z28/73Z1.jpg This is a picture of my now-wife and I on the way home from our honeymoon in April 74. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...honeymoon2.jpg Marilee and our dog Cisco sometime in the winter of 74-75, with the 73 Z and my friend's 65 Impala convert in the background. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...winter74_1.jpg Quit driving the 73 Z on a daily basis in early 1976. Despite my pledge when I bought it new to keep it totally original, I did the Day-2 thing in 1977. My good friend Dave Schele (R.I.P., Dave ) did an awesome pearl flame paint job on it, keeping the original color of Midnight blue metallic. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...73Z28/73Z3.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...73Z28/73Z5.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...73Z28/73Z4.jpg |
