Dog - that is an awesome shot. How would you describe the performance of a 429 SCJ. Any comparables. What were its strengths/weaknesses.

Thanks! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Sam I traded a hemi Road Runner in on it, so it was a little tamer - but not by much. It was a strong running car - didn't take much crap from anyone on the street - but was plush and extremely comfortable especially by muscle car standards.
The thing I remember most about it was, I was living in a trailer in Chattahoochee, Ga. while stationed at Ft. Benning. There was a four lane road that ran between the two places that had a median about an 1/8 mile wide and at one point, you could see 3 miles of road going down then up again in front of you. It was common practice to run this section of road flat out - the speedo topped out at 120 and would disappear from sight at that point, then the fuel and temp gauges mounted below it would bounce back and forth so rapidly you'd swear they would never work again!
Oh to be young and fearless!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

Wow, I have NO idea what this car is! Anyone know? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Looks like a 1953 Packard concept car, but it's actually the personal car of Edward Macauley, Packard's Director of Styling in 1951. Using parts from production Packards and styling ideas from John Reinhart, the Panther was mounted on a 122" wheelbase. In effect, it was a coupe with a shortened body covered by a fixed hardtop. It used parts destined for the 1952 model year including a 1952 bumper, '52 hood crest with 1951 lettering on a 1952 grill, plus a hood scoop that was essentially the same as that which Henney put on the Pan American. Wheel covers were also 1951 and had the Patrician cloisonne center emblems. The engine was a 327 cubic inch Packard straight eight connected to the Ultramatic transmission. The picture posted is slightly updated from the original version, especially with the addition of a hood from a Packard Caribbean.

Thanks Dog. Great stuff. My best bud as a kid/teenager had a '70 yellow Torino (but w/a 302 2bbl). Have always had a thing for yellow '70s since then. Yours was a beaut (and a beast).

Where did they make their power (rpm). Torque rating? Actual HP?

Thanks,

Sam - 375 hp @ 5600 / 450 @ 3400 - the SCJ only was rated at 5 more hp then the CJ and with a lower comp ratio - 11.3 / 10.5. I think the 375 hp rating was about as accurate as the 425 hp rating was on my L-72!

Shawn - That shot was taken in Canada - but I couldn't tell you what it is.
