Red Plastic Fender Liners
6 Attachment(s)
An option on ‘66-‘67 Tempest Series only, code #522.
These Pontiac Red Liners (all 4 fender wells) were much thinner than the Oldsmobile (front 2 fender wells). The Pontiacs were fastened with sheet metal screws with flat washers to the existing front inner fender skirts and rear fender wells. The outer stainless wheel opening moulding held the Red plastic outer lip in place. The holes can be seen on my used set. The fronts typically show tire wear/stains/rub through from the suspension and turning. Note, the LH front liner has a square molded area to accommodate the transistor ignition (control amplifier) if ordered. |
I see now. The red liners were an option & not a standard feature. Learned something new today....Joe

The red fender liners I remember from cars I worked on were shipped in the trunk with the wheel covers and were installed during new car prep operation. One of the older mechanics ,maybe 35 at that time and I was 17 ,thought those were one of the dumber ideas he had ever seen. A red 67 GTO convertible I was servicing had an order attached to paint the rear drums and disc brake calipers matching red . That car was a graduation gift for a successful business mans son and had every option box checked.

Have to agree that screwing liners on the inner fenders is about as worthless as it gets. |

First time I saw one of these was baxk in 1967 on trip to Acapulco. Thought it was something the hotel cobbled together. |
